The Forecastie-Weather app: An advanced weather forecast app for your everyday life

The rain had been falling for days now in Nigeria, Akwa Ibom state to be precise, and it got me thinking about how to learn more about the weather conditions in my city. I am a businessman and since we got into the raining season business has slowed down. Less income is not good for business, and considering the fact that I have a lot of people on my payroll, and besides, I had a target for the year. I began to ask my friends for a weather forecast application, and I got lots of recommendations. I downloaded most of them, but it was one that I was interested in, and that was the Forecastie-Weather app. Its interface was smooth and simplified compared to others. I later uninstalled others, and I went on to enjoy my Forecastie-Weather app. So far, it has been a pleasant experience, and I’d love to share my experience in this article.

The Forecastie-Weather app is an intuitive application which enables users to gain more knowledge of their environmental weather conditions. The Forecastie-Weather app was developed by Tomáš Martykán, a brilliant developer who is based in Brno, Czech republic. Tomáš Martykán saw the need for an app which could enable a user to gain more knowledge of his environmental weather, and he went on to implement it. Ever since the Forecastie-Weather app was launched on Dec 24, 2015, thirty-three versions have been released. The latest version is 1.10.2, and it was released on March 9, 2019. The Forecastie-Weather app is 2.6 megabytes in size, and it requires Android version 4.0.3 upwards. Over 10,000plus downloads have been recorded so far, and it goes on to prove that the Forecastie-Weather app is developed with professional rigor.

They are a lot of features implemented within the Forecastie-Weather app, and these features are what makes the Forecastie-Weather app an outstanding project amongst its contemporaries. The Forecastie-Weather app uses OpenWeatherApp’s public API as a medium to derive its weather data, and this data does not consume any significant amount of internet bandwidth because they are small. The bad news is that; the Forecastie-Weather app is only available to Android users. If you're using an iOS device, I'm sorry. For Android users, you can download it on the Google play store, or on F-droid.org. However, I noticed that the version on F-droid.org is different from the one on the Google play store. The version on the Google play store is version 1.10.2, while the one on F-droid.org is version 1.10.4. They were both added on different dates so, it might be a bug, but that's my guess anyways.

If you have been read my previous articles, then you've seen that I don't discuss the user interface of most applications. Well, in some cases I do, but the user interface of the application has to be catchy.

The user interface of the Forecastie-Weather app is different from most apps that I have used. It is smooth, simple, and well crafted with useful information. In most apps, there is always an issue with either the theme, icons, or font size. Speaking of theme, I believe theme plays a major role in the user interface of any application, and funny enough, the Forecastie-Weather app has five different themes.

• Classic,
• Fresh dark,
• Fresh black,
• Classic dark,
• Classic black.

The fresh theme was the default theme, but I had to change it to the Classic black theme because it wasn't as fresh as I expected it to be.

For one to understand the weather condition of any environment, it is necessary to understand the measuring units used in gathering the weather information. Measuring units like; the Temperature, Length, Speed, and Pressure are all supported within the Forecastie-Weather app, and they can be adjusted to suit our needs. Like me, I had no reasons to adjust the default measuring unit that came with the app. But If you're not comfortable with the measuring units, feel free to adjust them to suit your desires.

Forecast for five days:

Me being able to obtain the weather forecast for five days is one of the many reasons I like about the Forecastie-Weather app. With this information, you can easily make plans and execute them. Ever since I gave the Forecastie-Weather app a whirl, I check the app before I do my laundry, I check the app to know the type of accessories I take with me while going out, to name a few. With this kind of information, a lot can be achieved. It prepares you for the coming days.

Using the Forecastie-Weather app has given me more insight into the weather condition in different cities across the globe, and each day that goes by, I have every reason to thank the developer for developing such an amazing project.

I have used the Forecastie-Weather app for a long time, and I'm proud to say that it is an amazing project. Many weather forecast apps are out they, but the Forecastie-Weather app is different. It will offer lots of features at your disposal if you're going to give it a whirl.
