The Saidpur Railway Factory is located in Saidpur, Saidpur Upazila of Nilphamari district. The location of this factory covers an area of 110 acres. This factory was established by the then British government. The factory from the British government period is still carrying on its tradition.

The British government asked the landlord of Rangpur at that time for land to be allocated for the construction of a railway facility. The landlord donated some land in Saidpur to the British government. The Saidpur Railway Factory was built on that land. This factory was established in 1870.

Steam locomotives were the first to be added to the railway fleet. These locomotives ran on coal. When the coal was on top of the water, the water vaporized, creating momentum. That momentum was converted into energy, and the train moved on that energy flow.At one time, 15,000 employees worked in the sector in the Saidpur area. Currently, there are only 800 employees in the country. This is about 10%, 90% of the employees have retired from work, and the manpower of this railway factory is empty.
