Do I keep writing my book or not? Is it going to be useful?

The writing of my book stopped about a year ago due to a couple of reasons. I told myself I would start again in the New Year but so far over the last month my logical self is into over analysing, giving all the reasons why I am wasting my time.

On the other hand I hear my intuitive self telling me to finish this book, it is meant to be written. Time is a wasting, get going!

Your job as a parent is far from finished once your child goes to school. Children learn to be sensible and consider the feelings of others from their parents. This is how children learn to get along with their classmates and how to be fair. You must allow you child to be independent. You cannot be at school helping your child solve problems. But there are still times when you need to make the decision to take up the gauntlet and fight for your child. It is a matter of working out when to do so. There are many times when I went into battle for my children. I needed to act and behave as a parent using all my diplomacy, tact and communication skills to achieve good outcomes for my children.

Most parents assume that their children go to school to obey the teachers and to follow the rules. And most children do. But children do misbehave and get themselves into trouble. It is confusing for a parent. At home you have a good kid and at school you have child who misbehaves. To solve this problem you first have to find out why it is happening. Maybe your child does not like the teacher. Maybe your child is bored. Or it could be that a classmate is teasing your child. Once the reason is established you and your child’s teacher can find a solution. Here it is essential to know how to talk to your child’s teacher to get the best possible outcome.

What do you do when your child or teenager is a victim of cyber bullying? Most parents feel ill equipped to handle the impact of social media on their children at school. I detail simple strategies that parents can use to protect their children. But there is a more important issue here and that is learning and the mobile phone in the classroom. Children are naturally very social. This generation of children consider their mobiles as necessary communication tools. Even though they know their school does not permit phones switched on in the classroom they can’t help using them. They are hooked to the social network. Parents need to know there is a big down side to this behaviour. Parents need to know that having a phone on in the classroom breaks children’s concentration. And when your child’s concentration is broken it is hard for them to take in the teacher’s instruction.

My book is based on many years of study and practical experiences over my long years as an educator. From the very beginning of my career as an early education teacher I worked hand in hand with parents, which I found endlessly satisfying and rewarding. I have filled this book with the information and advice that I have given to countless parents. At the end of the chapters I have included parent stories, questions and answers. From my experience when parents get information on how to help their child they are released from stress and worry and they know how to help their children.

In this book I give you that information. This book gives you the preparation you need to guide your children through school land. It is that book I never found!
