Some new things I learned about.. Textbroker and Google Speech-to-text.
Hey everyone, this is my first blog type of post using speech-to-text and I have to say I'm pretty excited about it.

Writing / typing has been a really big part of my life and I even bought the Dragon Naturally Speaking software a number of months ago but the CD didn't work and I never got it working, so today when I was looking around for ways to make more money I saw a video on YouTube where a guy mentioned that Google Docs has a free method of doing this, And I have to say it works really well.
In fact it's only messed up one or two words so far and I can even listen to music while it's going and it's still works almost 100% perfectly. This is pretty major for me because I end up typing so much doing my IFC contest when responding to people and just when posting really long blog articles in general and arguing with a lot of people online that eventually it caused repetitive stress and for a while there during the first IFC season last year I got to the point where it hurt to even hold my right arm up I used it so much, or overused it rather..
These days my arm doesn't bother me that much as I stopped using it so much in such ways and started lifting weights more and stretching and such.. But still from time to time when I use it too much it starts to hurt a little bit so now with this I should be able to almost completely bypass needing to type anymore at least for most of the longer stuff that I do. Oh, that's funny it just typed four instead of for.. It's definitely not perfect and will need a little bit of editing but that's still way better than how I used to do things.
Kind of feels a little weird talking instead of typing like I have for so many years since I've done it that way so long and now I find it's a little bit awkward in some ways, but I'm sure in time I'll get used to it.
Another thing I wanted to mention was that I found a site called Textbroker which pays people for typing up articles or blog posts or whatever and you can use this speech to text stuff and that works as well, I haven't signed up yet but hopefully I get accepted and that's a way for me to earn some extra income, you may want to check it out also if that's something you're interested in.
Some people are making a living doing this and claim to be making $20-30 an hour or more, some aren't making much at like $3-5 an hour depending upon how skilled they are at it and what star they are ranked.. I'm curious to try it out and see how I do.
I feel like I should be able to get at least a 4 star rating, maybe not a 5 star, I dunno.. But I do feel like I could possibly get a 5 since I am pretty good at writing/typing and online researching and having been working on these skills for a long time.
So many people over the years have told me that I should be writing articles and getting paid to do it so now I'm going to explore that and see if it works out, hopefully I can make at least a little bit of extra money doing this :-)
If Textbroker doesn't work there's also Fiver and other sites and I will try those as well. Heh, that's funny the speech-to-text just typed fiber instead of Fiver. So.. I guess it does have some trouble with certain words that sound very similar yet it's not very difficult to edit and change that compared to how much I used to type!
Anyways I think that's it for now, I hope someone out there learned something useful or benefited from this blog post and maybe you might want to check out and try out Google Docs speech-to-text or Textbroker as well. :D Peace.
PS.. Dang that was freaking awesome and so much easier than what I'm used to for that amount of text. ._.
This is awesome. I had heard that Google docs had that feature but never actually tried it out. I use an app called "Otter" when I have to transcribe interviews for school. It works really well also. Sounds like Google is working well for you but It's another option to try, if you like using your phone. I never thought to use it for writing steemit articles though. I dont know if I would be able to talk and produce a well written post though. It's just not my style. Maybe with some practice though? Im going to consider it. That transcribing site sounds like a good way to make some extra money. Good luck if you do decide to try it out!

Word buddy! Thanks for the advice! I don't use my phone that often for text but I'll remember the Otter thing if I ever do!
And yeah I've been struggling to do decent articles by talking, I'm not sure why! For some reason when I type it's a lot easier to think of the direction I want to go and what I want to say, I think maybe it's just cause of the habits I built up over the years of being more non verbal and more visual, whereas some people who talk all the time would probably find it much easier to talk than to type.. But I think in time if I work at it I'll get better and who knows maybe it'll even evolve to doing podcasts or something like that?
Thanks for the good luck! I'm hoping it will be worth it, and I think in the end I usually learn from these things and try to find the silver lining so even if I don't make as much money as I'd like I'm sure it'll be a good learning experience. :)
I hear yeah man. I'm the same. I think writing slows the process down a bit and gives you time to think about what you want to convey. But yeah definitely keep practicing because once your mind is trained to do it that way (verbally) it will be much faster to make a post. You can always edit after the fact as well.
