Marcelo's orchard - La huerta de Marcelo

As soon as the summer arrives and the heat begins to press in La Mancha (it is normal that daytime temperatures hover around 35 °C, with peaks of 40 °C, and that nighttime temperatures do not drop below 20 °C), many families of Daimiel, those who can, leave during the day to the small orchards that dot the outskirts of the village. Thus, for a few weeks they live in the old whitewashed cottages, more or less remodeled. In the shade of the fruit trees, next to the alberca, the rigors of July and August are better endured.

En cuanto llega el estío y el calor comienza a apretar en la Mancha (es normal que las temperaturas diurnas ronden los 35 °C, con picos de 40 °C, y que las nocturnas no bajen de los 20 °C), muchas familias de Daimiel, aquellas que pueden, se marchan durante el día a las pequeñas huertas que salpican los alrededores del pueblo. Así, durante unas semanas hacen vida en las viejas casillas encaladas, más o menos remodeladas. A la sombra de los frutales, junto a la alberca, se sobrellevan mejor los rigores de julio y agosto.
