Jaipur Literature Festival - Experience

in #festival7 years ago (edited)

Hello.. How you doing?

Lately, I've been talking a lot about the advantages of studying design in Jaipur - Pink city of India. And today I wanna share about a global event that takes place here, in the city I'm calling home for nearly four years. All through out my college days basically. Geez, it feels weird to even think about completing my college soon. It's kinda scary and exciting at the same time. Coming back to the topic of the blog: Jaipur Literature Festival.

Jaipur Literature Festival is an annual event that takes place here every January where writers and readers gather at a place. The festival has sessions, book launches, book signing, shops, food and musical nights. It's a four day long festival for celebration of literature and writing. It gathers readers, authors and writing enthusiasts from all over the world. Something one shouldn't miss.

Being a pretty decent reader myself, I couldn't miss this. And this was my third time visiting and experiencing this utterly crowded festival. Yeah, it ain't easy to navigate through the damn place. Still, worth your time and visit. You can find sessions from scheduled authors and talks on topics of your interest. Today myself along with my amigos, went to experience this years energy. Here are pictures from today's visit.

Beautiful colored clay pots hung in the lane towards the festival.

Another sweet sight was seeing live art being created by artist Abhishek Singh. It's always fascinating to watch a creator in the flow. Also, another thing that I found cool was the look of the painting from behind as it interacted with sunshine.

Personalities that I had a chance to witness were Jeffery Archer, the famous novelist and the author of the book "Call Me By Your Name": Andre Aciman. Well, that was pretty amazing to me because I absolutely loved the movie by the same title. I've also read the book as well.

Also my friend bought this book with really cool watercolor illustrations and poems in it. It's 'Sea Prayer' by Khaled Hosseini.

Also I bought myself a good read, "21 Lessons for the 21st Century" by Yuval Noah Harari. And it's the second book that I've bought from the author. The other is "Sapiens", that I'm currently enjoying reading.
