[CU] Pennsylvania Fisherman
This Black & White Watercolor ..
Was made specifically for my day. It was a special day and I was wanting to give him something that had a lot of meaning for him. Something from the heart and something that I put a lot of thought and heart into. He is an avid fly fisherman, so this piece made perfect sense to me. Needless to say, he LOVED it. It hangs on the wall in my parents sunroom along with many othe fishing memorabilia from his youth. It was really a very proud moment for me to watch him open this gift.
My Brother and I ..
Grew up fly fishing. We rarely keep anything we catch, but rather catch and release, allowing the fish to go on being a fish and living for another day. Fly fishing in the Pennsylvania steams is not only absolutely beautiful, but can be very therapeutic. I can clear my head and be one with nature. Do you have something that you do to clear your head and relax.. besides being artistically creative??

My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.
Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.
For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.
Beautiful black & white watercolor painting @bdmillergallery And also very meaningful ! Fly fishing looks so interesting and I love that you catch and release.

It is beautiful that you have done this special job to your father, it is something incredible @bdmillergallery.
A long time ago we went fishing and I must tell you that it is something that I do not get at all, I was very desperate to spend hours and not catch anything. XD

The fishing line that is being thrown is specially charming here and gives the picture a nice "movement".
Also I find it really adorable that you made this with heart for someone who is important to you :).
Thanks! Yes, this is in fact watercolor. I used Grumbacher Masking Solution for the fishing line. You paint on the masking solution in spots where you will remove it later, thus removing whatever was on top of it. I only use it every so often because it is a little weird to use. An action painting! "movement", I like it. :-)

Great painting!! wow I have to try this doing B&W watercoloring hmmm 💎
Yes you do! Maybe with your urban sketchers group. It is a challenge in tonal representation. Painting, drawing, or what ever in black and white always seems to teach me a lot about tones and light. I'll be waiting to see some of these B&W Watercolors from you!! :-)
It is a beautiful work in watercolor and with great meaning! I loved!
Awe.. Thank You :-)
Cool... I like b&W art :) I hope you make more this posts :)
Thanks @foxkoit! I enjoy making B&W pieces. I do need to create more nature scenes though.
Cool ... then I try come more back :)
And let me know when you have new B&W come :)
And I thought it was a charcoal... lol - but what do I know... Doing post-production work (editing) can be therapeutic for me... and can be frustrating too! Depends if I get what I want... lol... Have a great weekend!
