SATA Dinner- A Night of Crazy Rich Entrepreneurs

The Sabah Techpreneur Association, held its 9th Anniversary & Appreciation Dinner on 9 March 2019 at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru with theme Crazy rich Entrepreneur.

It was graced by the Minister of Education & Innovation, Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr Yusof B Yacob, as the Guest of Honour, who was accompanied by the lovely & lively wife, Datin Haja Azizah Binti Beniamen.

Also present was YB Jennifer Lasimbang, the Assistant Minister of Education & Innovation, together with the husband Mr. Ben Mansul, and the ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary, Pn Moira David. SATA was also honoured to have the recently retired Permanent Secretary, Datuk Bruno Vun and wife Datin Annie, among the invited VIPs. I was also grateful that my lovely wife could accompany me at this memorable occasion.

This is the first ever Appreciation Dinner organised by SATA which also celebrates its 9th year anniversary since it was established in 2010. The dinner was organised to give appreciation to the Ministry of Education & Innovation which financed entrepreneurship programs under SATA since the beginning. It is also to honour the individuals like Pitchborneo judges, mentors, crews, trainers & members that have contributed in SATA’s mission to create more entrepreneurs.

In the 9 years pioneering startups entrepreneurship development in Sabah through Pitchborneo, the fruits of hard labour have finally showed up with creation of many entrepreneurs. Three outstanding SATA entrepreneurs were honoured & recognised at the event for a breakthrough in RM1 million accumulated sales in their business since winning startup funding worth RM20K in Pitchborneo. The outstanding entrepreneurs are Noorizan Elias (Ejan Food Village), Mohd Junied (BT Empire Holding) and Jubair Juhinin (Arnab Village). The outstanding entrepreneurs awards were presented by YB Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob while SATA President, Saverinus Kitingan honoured the members and crazy supporters cum entrepreneurs. Awards appreciation to wise judges were presented by Pitchborneo Event Coordinators, Suhaimie Selin and Kadawel Dambu.

The innovative theme and decoration that evening was the creative idea of SATA’s owned creative mastermind, Sindiy Fam @sindiyfyc which impressed many especially the Guest of Honour. It was indeed a night of Crazy Rich Entrepreneurs.. The evening was a moment to catch up old friends too as some haven’t seen each other for years. It was also a network of many Sabah Got Ideas and Pitchborneo alumni from 2010 -2018.

It was also a meet up of three founding members Darwin Tan, Karon Lo @roxhead and myself, on stage after many years when Darwin Tan left us for bigger role outside.
