New Game on Steem NextColony My Thoughts After Day 1...

I had not been active on Steem for this past week or so and I was not up to date on what was going on. When I got some time to check out what I missed in the past week or so I came across NextColony which is a new rpg game on Steem. After checking out their page @nextcolony it appears the game was launched about a month ago. If you take a look at https://steemapps.com/ the game is listed at #5 for Steem apps at the time of writing this. I decided to actually check out the game after seeing a few posts about it by some notable Steemians.

I personally like to try out all the Steem games and play SteemMonsters, DrugWars, tried out MoonSteem while it was around, and currently am one of the beta testers of HashKings. So I decided why not lets give https://nextcolony.io/ try.

I was able to purchase the 2nd to last 9.99 Steem Chest to give myself a boost to get started in the game. Currently there is only 1 Chest that is still available which costs 99 Steem to purchase. I am not sure if they will add more Chests later or not. In the Chest you get a bonus amount of resources to help you get started in the game.

Just like DrugWars or many other RPG games you need to Upgrade your production of resources in this games case Coal, Ore, Copper, and Uranium. You need to upgrade your skills first to be able to produce buildings and continue to upgrade your skills to be able to upgrade your buildings. The higher the building the more your produce. They also have Depots to store your resources which you need for all of your different resources and you upgrade those buildings the same way as you would with the other buildings I described. Your last three buildings are your Base, Shipyard, and Research Center.

Here is what each of the last 3 buildings I mentioned are for. All information is directly from the games website.

Base: With 1,118 square meters, Base is a massive structure to withstand the harsh climate and sandstorms. Inside it consists of nine capsules and a control room, recycling plant, airlock, storage room, bio module, medical care, living area. With its extremely limited resources it must be permanently controlled.
Note: Reduce the upgrade time for buildings by +1%

Shipyard: In the spaceships shipyard, you can build spaceships for exploration and transport. With the increasing level of the shipyard you can build mighty warships, which can be used to defend your colony but also to attack your enemies.
Note: Reduce the build time for ships by +1%

Research Center: Research involves the exploration of a planet, its immediate environment, the solar system and the universe through to the development of satellite-based technologies. This is where all scientific astronomical and planetary data from all missions converge and where interplanetary space in orbit is monitored.
Note: Nothing special so far.

Below is the Story line to the game directly from the NextColony website.
"Story
A large part of humanity has been destroyed by a global nuclear war between China, Russia, North Korea and the USA. This global catastrophe has radically changed the world order. Since there was a lack of any necessary supply, a pandemic raged for many decades, to which many people fell victim. The fallout is spreading over a large area and therefore the earth is almost uninhabitable.

After years of searching, a small group was able to identify some areas that were not radioactively contaminated. In 2080, the rest of the people in these areas tried to create a new livelihood. The radioactive fallout made life impossible. The great war and its devastating destruction of our home planet forced people to flee. Mankind was forced to leave the earth.

On different parts of the earth, different factions came together to build space ships under high pressure in order to bring as many people as possible into space and to saving a part of humanity.

After a flight of several months through the undiscovered depths of space, you have finally discovered a planet. Planet Alpha.

At first, the planet makes an uninhabitable impression. After several days of intensive searching, the crew finds a suitable place to establish the new colony. It can't be ruled out with certainty that there are other living beings on the planet, but that is secondary for the time being. For the time being only survival counts. The crew disassembles their spaceship to use the material for the construction of a base. After some days of hard work, the base was created. Raw materials have to be mined to expand the base.

Tip: Explore your planet and be careful with resources. Decide wisely which buildings to build first.

It was raining. The howling of the energy converters and Pulsor motors was heavy over the mud track marked by deep furrows. Landcrawlers with wide crawler tracks used the runway several times a day to transport raw materials from the uranium mines to the spaceport and supplies from there to the settlement.

Landcrawlers are huge trucks of 8-10m width, 10-20m height, and over 100m length. Mostly consisting of a tractor on two pairs of tracks, a semi-trailer with another pair of tracks, as well as another trailer consisting of a semi-trailer with an additional track drive as coupling to the front semi-trailer. Why Jack Steel volunteered for the safety team that secured the track, he couldn't say today, almost a week later, because the payment was moderate, it had been raining for 4 days without a break and the construction of the game barriers along the perimeter was more than sluggish.

One could not claim that Jack Steel was particularly attentive after an uneventful week in the increasingly colder air of the beginning winter. Something in the corners of his eyes suddenly caught his attention. Adrenaline washed through his body in the moment of shock." from https://nextcolony.io/story

To even start producing ships to get started in exploration or any other missions in the game you need to reach a certain level which I heard takes a ridiculous amount of time. I do not have to much more info right now as I am new to the game but at the moment my strategy is the same in all games of this sort is to maximize my production, which is what I am doing at the moment. As I play and learn more about the game I will continue to bring you guys updates and my thoughts on the game.

I feel like a lot of unhappy DrugWars players are looking for a new game to play which is why NextColony is currently ranked #5 on SteemApps.com. DrugWars was a disappointment to most. Do I think NextColony will be the game to take over? At this point no but that could change depending on what the team does next. I still feel if someone could think of a cool RPG for the Steem Blockchain they could really succeed if they could get it right. Learn from the mistakes of DrugWars. Start off the game with a test version for a month with 100 beta testers before taking everyones Steem create a game get it right then release it to everyone. After DrugWars and now NextColony all the attention these games are getting it just shows if someone could get it right they could really succeed here.

I got a few ideas if there are any web devs that are willing to try something out contact me.

Are you guys playing NextColony? And do you guys still play DrugWars? Let me know in the comments section. If you do play what is your thoughts on the game and do you think NextColony will take over as the top RPG game on Steem from DrugWars.

I just started nextcolony also. I like it more than drugwars. I was really let down when they made culture tokens. I am still trying to figure out how to link that wallet to steem. The exchange ratio is outrageous.

I like steemmonsters also but the app is currently broken in brave. I may try and play in chrome to keep my rewards going.

Culture tokens? For NextColony? I think Steem Monsters is probably the best game on Steem by far but yet a lot of people do not want to try it for some reason but are willing to try some of these other games.
