Haz’N’Stein

Hazy IPAs are the new trend in the craft beer industry. Once a rare style that only the most daring and innovative breweries would try. Now every brewery and their brother is jumping on the bandwagon to get a piece of the pie. This means that only a few breweries are doing the style justice while the others are pumping out as much as they can to make their money while the getting is good. Haz’N’Stein is one of the best hazy IPAs I’ve had. Currently, Michigan has some of the top hazy IPA producers in the country so for me to give this one such high marks means they did their job right.

This beer pours a hazy orange to yellow color with a dense white two medium bubble head that dissipates to a fine halo.

The aroma is bold and intense well not being overpowering. There are notes of citrus, fruit, hop, pine and a bit of alcohol.

The taste is slightly sweet with loads of citrus and hoppy bitterness. I’m picking up orange, pineapple, lemon, mango and grapefruit. I’m also picking up a nice bitter finish that has more bite then other hazy IPA I’ve tried. The mouthfeel is pillowy and has some body with a medium amount of carbonation. Overall, I have to give Ellison Brewery high remarks because they do a good job of balancing all these flavors without being too sweet.
