Curation and growth.

in #steem7 years ago

Yesterday I spoke about curation and Asher's chart showing a 400 percent growth over the course of the year to December. I received a few replies back from users who I will assist where I can. I am by no means an expert on this matter, but I have taken the time to learn. Users forget that this is all accumulative growth so the more you, have the more you should earn. This is not rocket science, but common sense.

I am fortunate to understand numbers and can work things out quickly. If something doesn't add up I will find out why and question the process. Where some may see it as mundane I find enjoyment and will challenge myself to improve.

I think where I have found it easier is I don't give 1% or 5% votes and those that know me receive 40 % or more each time. It limits me to the number of votes I can cast , but it also shows me immediate value in the curation. If you are casting a vote just above the dust threshold who are you kidding as it is helping no one. The author you are supposedly thanking isn't benefiting really and you will be making peanuts on the curation. Try and leave some value for the author and you will receive value back in curation.

It really doesn't make sense to see users with a few thousand SP giving 300 or 400 votes a week as no one is really growing. You may be recognizing a post by voting , but that is all you are doing. I have found it easier to earn from curation by understanding the return and value on a single vote. Once you understand that process you will understand that for every 1000 SP you should be earning anywhere between 3 and 4.5 SP in curation. When Steem starts increasing in value again and has a $ in front of it you will be happy that you have taken the time to tweak your curation.

Curation is so important it is like having an extra post per week for me now. This wasn't always the case as I didn't see the bigger picture of what was possible. I have no idea why people delegate out their votes when there is a goldmine in front of them. This isn't difficult and rather find some decent authors and set steemauto voter if you have to, but don't delegate your votes.

I can recall @acidyo mentioning he grew his account from curation and look where he is now. Some accounts are so big they don't even post anymore and just curate. Imagine not having to think of a post everyday and guaranteeing a chunk of the reward pool from just voting.

The best thing is the vote doesn't cost you anything and you are using it to help others by helping yourself at the same time.
