I Called In To See If I Have To Go In To Be A Juror
Yes, I called in after 5 PM to see if I have to go in to see if I will be a possible juror. Well, I do have to report in on Monday and be there at 12:30 PM.
Sometimes when I call that number they tell me that I am to call back on Monday to see if I am to come in. Sometimes they keep that up for a whole week and if they still don't need me then they won't call on me for awhile.
Only this time I have to go in right on the first day. So there is a chance that I will be a juror.
I will have to park at one of certain parking garages. When I pull the ticket that lifts the arm to let me in, I will have to bring the ticket to the juror room and they stamp it so I won't have to pay for parking when I drive out of there.
I always put the parking ticket in my wallet so I don't forget it in the car.
I will have to go through the scanners. I don't like taking my belt off every time I enter the courthouse so I bought a belt with a non-metal belt buckle. This way I won't have to take off my belt before going into the scanner.
Of course the scanner is so you won't bring in any weapons. Of course I won't want to bring anything like that as it just delays getting in. So if a guy brings in a pocket knife then if he wants to keep it he has to get out of line and go back to his car to leave it there.
This will be the first time I go into the new courthouse. Last time I served as a juror was at the old courthouse. That was back in 2015 I believe.
In the old courthouse the juror room was in the basement. Now I am to report on the twelfth floor in the new courthouse.
Once I get to the juror room I have to turn in my paper and get my parking ticket stamped so I don't have to pay parking. Then I take a seat and wait for the first roll call.
One thing is that you don't want to miss any of the roll calls or your name will be put into the system again and you could be fined. So I don't want to come back so I keep waiting for the roll calls.
After a roll call they may direct some people to go to a certain courthouse room to be a possible juror there. Others just stay in the juror room waiting for the next roll call.
If you haven't been chosen by the end of the day then you are free to go after the last roll call. Then you won't have to serve again for a whole year.
If you are lucky while you are waiting you might meet someone that you know. That would be great as you have someone to talk to, as you are waiting. That happened one time for me, I met another co-worker at that time.
Well, we will see how it goes on Monday. Maybe, while I am sitting and waiting, I could write a blog with pen and some scratch paper.
