FORGET THE PAST: GOD IS DOING A SOMETHING NEW
Isaiah 43:15-19
I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King. Vs 15
Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; Vs 16
Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow. Vs 17
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Vs 18
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Vs 19
We are told from the text that we should "Behold". Behold means to see or look. Let go of your past and behold your future in your present. God did new things, He is still doing new things and will continue to do new things in our lives.
I understand that so many people have a painful past. They always think of their yesterdays and as a result, are unable to see the new things God is doing in their lives today.
Each time you think of the darkness of your yesterdays, you will only remember the night of fear, sorrow, pain and depravity. You cannot see a new thing when your eyes are fixed on the old things.
For you to appreciate the new things happening in your life, you must take your eyes (mind) off the former things.
The glorious things God is doing in your life are more real than the miseries of your past. Many after surrendering their lives to Christ, do not make a clean break with the world. They still have a strong attachment to the world, the things of the world and the ways of their former lives still attract their attention and admiration.
You got to know that:
Past Failures can Cripple
You can't Change the Past
You got to make a Clean Break
You have to Forget the Past
There is Danger of Dwelling on Past Success
Genesis 27:34-39
And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father. Vs 34
And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing. Vs 35
And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me? Vs 36
And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son? Vs 37
And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept. Vs 38
And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above; Vs 39
Esau uttered this determined cry when he arrived home to discover that the blessing that was meant for him had been given to his younger brother. He wept bitterly over the missed blessing and managed to get another blessing from his father. He said "Have you but one blessing, my father?"
Though this blessing was not as good as the first, it was better than having none at all.
Many today continue to brood over spilt milk and sulk all through their life time. This must not be your lot.
Though it is generally said that opportunities once lost cannot be regained, it does not mean that other opportunities will not come. Why not forget the past and take advantage of new opportunities?
God has more than one blessing for you
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me to only focus on the future.

Thanks @Evegrace for sharing this piece. Truly, the ills of yesterday can only be corrected by today's determination to live right in the future. God doesn't want us to dwell in the past, rather, he hopes to see us showcase great faith by trusting Him for tomorrow. Make sure you visit @Reliquary today and engage those Bible chapters.
