Review - My top 5 posts from @steemiteducation
Introduction
I love community effort because joining hands together is the best way to leverage the power of all. I love education because knowledge is power. Now you probably know why I support and decided to promote @steemiteducation. @steemiteducation is an amazing community of teachers and educators that support each other. This community hopes to make the world a better place by promoting educational posts and authors that create them. Read exactly how they put it:
The steemiteducation account was started to bring all educators together on this platform. We believe that education gives us better knowledge of the world around us and it changes the world into a better place. We are a close community and young and old, work together, to share ideas, teach each other, and learn from each other.
So to support and promote this amazing community of educators, I will make 2 posts each week - every saturday and wednesday - to review my 5 top posts curated by @steemiteducation in the last 2 or 3 days. I will probably increase the number of posts if I have the time to read more. The aim is to promote the community and authors that volunteered to spread knowledge. This is my little contribution to support the efforts of @steemiteducation for bringing teachers and educators together.
So lets get into the business!
My top 5 posts for today 15/6/2019
1. SCHOOL FOR PARENTS: DANGER OF SOCIAL NETWORKS FOR CHILDREN
The dangers of social networks for kids cannot be over-emphasized. In this post @deisip67 explained some of them in this article so that parents can be better informed. For example, using the computer longer than 40 minutes in a day can have dangerous consequences on the childs physical health. And leaving kids online can expose them to strangers that might want to take advantage of their inexperience. Read the article and see other risks.
2. Things we don't learn in schools- How to think for yourself/develop common sense.
The title of this post got me to look at it and I was not disappointed. @giantbear explained what common sense is and how some people throw it away when they needed it badly. According to the article, some people ditch common sense because of stubbornness. Others are caged in their view of each situation, believing that it is either white or black and nothing in-between. At the end of the day, common sense is indispensable but some people lack it. So read the article and see how to develop or improve your common sense.
3. When teenagers finish school they make decisions about their future. What if it is different to the parent's wishes?
@angiemitchell give a strong and powerful advise to parents on choosing a career for their children. According to the article, a parent might want their kid to be a doctor but they grow up and choose something else. Should the parent fight and kill theirself because of that? The article answers NO! Parents are adviced to let their grown up children decide what career they want to pursue and support them to achieve such goals. Parents need to realize that their kid is now grown up and should be allowed some freedom in decision-making. Check out more from the article.
4. Are you addicted to cough and flu medicine?
I never knew that some people are addicted to over-the-counter medicine until I read this article by @anneke. SOme people really take normal medicine even when they are fine. This could be as a result of being addicted over long useage and overdose of such medicine. It can be dangerous to our health. For example it can alter the brain in some way and harm the person too. Read more in this interesting article.
5. Adapt And Accept Change
@fun2learn used this article to educate us about accepting changes and adapting to them. According to the article, lots of people like business as usual. They like to stick to the old ways of doing things. But unfortunately, life itself was not meant to be constant, so lots of things come and go. When we accept changes and adapt, we improve and make progress in life. Read more in that article.

@focusnow, Here we have to understand one point and that is, Parents should definitely hold wishes towards what their children should become but at the same time forcing is not the right way because if they will not succeed then they will blame parents only. And when teenagers want to take their own path then in a way parents should understand their version too. Most importantly there should be smooth two way communication so that right decisions will come out.
I love number 1 social media is massive and it is very important that everyone understands how to use it safely.
