Long Travels For A Truck

in #photography7 years ago

For some time we have been in the search for a secondary vehicle. Living where I do, we have to travel for everything; groceries, school, events, activities and all that fun stuff is usually a half hour drive to the next town over.
We have been with one vehicle for some time now and what a struggle that is. Having to wait for my husband to be off work just to do groceries or having to find a ride for something when I am used to being independent is quite annoying.

In recent days we found a used truck in good condition that somewhat meets our needs. It runs, it looks good, it gets my husband to work and I get the van. The truck is a Chevrolet Silverado, the only downfall is that it is not a 4X4, but hey it was in our price range.

We started our journey yesterday to go pick up this camion. It was located in a town I have never been to, so it was a nice adventure for me and the kids. Our journey also started with -40c in the early morning. It took a long time to warm up the van and even when it was warm, the wind shield still had a hard time defrosting.

With the sun in our eyes, we travelled an hour and a half to our destination.

A beautiful town it is. On the way I had Danny slow the van down so I could quickly grab some pictures as we drove over the bridge. If I had more time on the way I would have had him stop completely and carefully calculate how I was going to take the picture.

Also on the way I spotted a small machinery in an open space. It spoke to me something calm and poetic. I was convinced that when we were headed back, to stop completely to take the pictures I wanted. Thinking that we were in a hurry to transfer all the papers and such that Danny would have said no, but he didn't! I got all excited for that and thanked him nicely.

I wish I really knew more in photography to be able to do the place justice. I think someone that has the proper skills could really take advantage of the beautiful scenery and magic this place has.

This next picture is one of my favorites. The tree is frozen and covered in ice, but my skills with the camera didn't show it too well.

On my way back to the van as I have wandered off to take the pics, I noticed a cute little place by a partially frozen creek.

I haven't seen one of these things in such a long time. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during the summer in which I plan to. I will be able to have better view of the river, I wont have snow banks blocking my way, and I won't be freezing my little fingers. There is a nice little park by the river too so the kids can enjoy that as I take in the view and have a picnic there as well. Summer goals!

And here is our lovely old but new to us truck. The red top doesn't work with it and it doesn't fit the truck at all. It isn't needed at all so we plan to get rid of it. Just details. There is also a dent on the side but it isn't major. Something I can fix with some boiling water and a put of pushing.

Even though we spent most of our day driving, it was most worth it to have been able to see all of this and plus we got a truck. ^_^

Enjoy the day everyone!

Cool Stuff, I hope you get to put 1,000,000 kilometers on it!

:-D

Thank you very much :)

Brrrr that looks like a cold journey!

It was lol the van is hard to warm up as we dont have the option of a heater in the back. All good though, we dressed warm :)

Although I hate the cold, I must admit that the clear crisp air makes photos stand out. Nice shots! Hope the car will last you couple of years!

Thank you! I was hoping that the shots were ok. I still often don't know what I am doing but I try ;)
