Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission: Las Vegum originally released in 2006 on PC and PS2, where many of you can still remember it today. After 13 years he is back, with the remake under the wings of the French publisher Microids. Intervention wanted to do as little as possible. On the one hand, it is not bad. You get the kind of game you loved a few years ago. On the other hand, some areas deserve to expand, so you can enjoy it a little more.
For example, I know the original game contained nothing but a single-player. There was always only one player who could control only one character. Well, the year 2018, local co-operation of two players is a threatened species on the verge of extinction, and this is a game of a couple of beloved characters that run around and beat the Riman head-nehlava. If you could sit for it in 13 years, maybe with your offspring, you would enjoy it in a completely new way that would only add value to it. As it turns out, this is a thing that this remaster needs acutely.
Do not mind, you have to make it alone and switch between the two famous heroes in the story in which they went to rescue their druid Panoramix. It seems that he joined Július Cézar in his new plan to conquer the last, impregnable Galician village. After all, the famous world lies at his feet, one village can not endlessly resist. Caesar has built the Las Vegum, which consists of six parts imitating known places as part of their plan. You will find places such as Lutetia, WCW, LuckSore, Little Venice, Pirate Island and SeizeUs Palace. However, Asterix and Obelix are not alone, accompanied by their dog Idefix and Roman spy Sam Shieffer.
Asterix never took death seriously. Whether it was on comic sites, on TV screens, movie screens, or video games. This is exactly the same. Again, the game reflects on ours, pulls it off, and refers to many other well-known games, from which it has been forbidden, for example, by enemies. Respectfully, Riman dug into costumes of known characters. However, the game is just 13 years old and although Mario, Sonic, Ryu, Lara Croft and Rayman are still with us, today such links are a bit ... like 2006.
The Las Vegum parts, in fact, are part of the gaming world that you have to move through, going back to the already known central hub to open up access where it was previously inaccessible thanks to new abilities and solved riddles. Along with the game, respawn enemies come in the places you've already gone through. And that's a bit of poisoning. On the other hand, either you just run around or you decide to fight them and pick up some helmets that are used here as a ticket. In addition, it is a game of 2006. If you have a different arrow and other things that are constantly showing you where to go, then there is no such thing as you. You have to look at the various switches, jump platforms and doors that you opened in some way. It's nothing demanding or magnificent, just not seen today, which is a shame.
I have the impression that these two cartoon Gauls do not need to be so detailed. Asterix is the little clever and Obelix the big one ... with a broken chest. For a player, this means two different playable characters, which you must combine appropriately to achieve the result you need. Not so much in the fight. There is more or less one for whom you fight. Much more will you turn them into solving riddles and overcoming obstacles, each of whom has unique abilities not only based on their physical dispositions.
As for those, it's classical - Asterix is smaller and gets where Obelix is not. And he can overcome some of the obstacles through which Asterix will not pass. Well, then, there is also the fact that I can only use some mechanisms together and, for example, Obelix has to meet them. It's based on a truly action-packed 3D platform from the Zero Years with everything that belongs to it - so action, platforming and simple puzzles for every second step to make the most of the smaller ones, but it does not hurt even the bigger ones. In battles, Obelix is the stronger and does not need a magic beverage. But Asterix does not reject him, and if you have him at hand, he wins to pick it up, and hells on the screen with the Rimans flying on all sides of the world.
The action is one of the areas where there has been some intervention and it is only in favor of the game. The kernel has not changed, but the streets with the Riman are more interesting, more fun and the game also actively motivates you to try different combo attacks, so that it is not just a push of a button. You will discover the unimagined depth in a combat system that offers more attacks when you use Rimanov as a whip, or you can rewind them and throw them over. In addition, they look quite enjoyable in the contests, as the animation takes a comic look when your wounds of the Rimanov stretch, or they are completely shot in the clouds and remain only sandals.
Unfortunately, I can not say about the bosses that are not directly bad. They are just not imaginative. The three sacred rule applies and you fight the Cézar experiments, which are trying to create huge supervyaks. On them, our well-known heroes are short, so first you have to do something to reveal their weakness, and then attack. Here is a formula of basic gameplay, when you have to turn the characters and try not to fall off some platforms and the like. They just did not get the best out of those fights. This also applies to some other areas, but fortunately they have increased, for example, new levels of difficulty, new skills, new collectible items and pleased with fast travel.
You are gradually improving your two heroes as the game also offers an upgraded store where you can find something new once again. Also new are challenges that will provide you with extra helmets in addition, so you can buy, for example, increase the number of lives for your characters. The gameplay is more varied and probably longer. The game is neither long nor short. It is so good if it is played by smaller players. I can spend 7-8 hours in it, depending on what everything chooses to appear and fulfill.
The surprise of this remaster is the graphics, as many graphic elements have been created entirely from the ground, so the game does not look so obsolete, but on the contrary, even today it is pleasantly looking at it. Of course, her age does not matter. Worse this is some of the predelových cene, which remained in the original quality and nowadays they are upset the head. The same applies to some sound effects in original quality. Not even the fact that the game contains only English dubbing. At least French with English text would be pleased. The camera is also furious, bringing traditional syndromes that have plagued us on PS2. Well, the biggest problem with this remaster is the price that is really high for being a 13 year old game. But the kids will have fun, you will remember and try a few new ideas. Just wait for a cheaper price tag @cleverbot
