Eskimo starts a homestead

Zone 3 growing a garden and starting a homestead in the small village of Unalakleet, Alaska! Please enjoy the humble beginnings of our little 5400 ft homestead.
50 degrees outside, but over 70 in the greenhouses. Pickling cucumber and jalapeno seedlings are happy! We are making hugel mounds inside of raised pallet beds! These are the first of about 30 to come! And this is our regular hugel mound, about halfway done and it sits in front of our home. Lots of driftwood in Unalakleet and discarded brush for the taking, as well as dead grass/straw... perfect for hugel mound building!!! ! This is our composting area! This is our fishrack... many homes in Alaska coastal villages like Unalakleet have fish racks, we have so much wild salmon here. But THIS year, I am using ours for vining plants!!! !And to end, here is a birdhouse and pole that have been here since I was a little girl, growing up "village".
