Acknowledging my fault on recent downvoting

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

People who have been upvoting my latest two posts on Steem may have seen that they have gone from more than 0.100 STU each post to 0.000 STU. There is a reason for it and this post is about explained what happened there and my next actions to compensate those curators. You may have seen I am currently powering down. Nothing to be afraid about. In this post I explain it.

What happened

Two days ago I received a message from @crypto.piotr with an attached memo on it and 0.003 STEEM as the transaction fee. Normally those messages include only 0.001 STEEM. My policy is to burn those fees. I perform that by sending them to @null.

Those 0.003 STEEM were "burnt" as expected. After looking the spammer activity on the blockchain, it was pretty clear to me that it was a real spammer, even a bot. Just take a look at all those "I am not a bot" messages.

Then I downvoted his latest post. I did it with a 100% VP downvote, causing it as much as 0.01 STU.

The next event is the 50% downvote by that steemian of my latest post, the one where I explained my new curation policy. He also commented on it claiming that I don't have anough Steem Power to add any reward to any post.

Then I replied to that comment, insulting him and providing a few proofs that his claims were wrong.

As a response to my insults, the steemian downvoted also another one of my posts, this time with an 100% VP. Those two downvotes made both posts rewards 0.000 STU.

What went wrong

I should have not downvoted the spammer content, as I think that caused him to get angry. Of course I should not have insult him. Both actions were my fault.

What I will do

As those two actions make rewards going to 0, I should take responsability on my actions as upvoters became unexpected collateral damage on them.

I will power down 2 STEEM and will divide it between those who upvoted that content before the downvote took place. Those upvoters should expect something around 0.100 STEEM being trasfered to them after 1 week from now. Bots -sbi and steem-ua- will be excluded.

That is much more than what they would have received as a reward from my posts. I appreciate those who upvote my content and I don't like to see they don't get anyting from their spent RC and voting power.

Other thoughts

After looking into the delegation information for the @crypto.piotr account on SteemWorld, I was quite surprised to see a good steemian and photographer like @mariusfebruary to be his biggest delegator of Steem Power. I wouldn't be feeling too fine knowing that such big amount of VESTS -15 MVests- has been used in such a destructive way. His delegation accounts for more than 50% of the downvoter Steem Power.

Everyone must do with their own STEEM whatever they want to. Still, all of this is only my fault and that's why I chose to transfer those 2 STEEM to the upvoters. However, I would be ashamed if my delegated Steem Power was used the way this steemian decided to.

I did wrong and must pay for it, not saying anyone else is also guilty on my acts. I chose to downvote and I chose to insult him. Nothing else matters on this event.

Finally, to all my followers, a huge sorry for my latest actions on the Steem blockchain.

Hello Friend @javirid. How are you?

I would like to describe this as an unfortunate incident in which "unintentionally" you attacked the reputation of a very respected and beloved person in steemit by many of his followers.

@crypto.piotr was given the task of making many grow on this platform, I witness the enormous effort that it cost him to integrate a community where he has invested time, money and sacrifice only with the intention of helping the growth of people that just like you need your account to grow. I do not know if that represents something for you, but for many people in countries like Venezuela it can make the difference between bringing food to your table or watching your family suffer from hunger.

@crypto.piotr has embarked on projects that in my opinion should be taken as models on the platform so that many people frustrated because of their low steempower and lack of RC do not abandon this ecosystem.

Sometimes we make mistakes out of ignorance and end up damaging the reputation of good people who are doing an excellent job in this environment.

I advise you that in the future, before judging prematurely or uttering disqualifying and offensive insults to a person you do not know, you take the time to find out who it is and what work is being done in this ecosystem.

If you treat this matter well, it is possible that this unfortunate incident brings you closer to a person who may end up helping you.

Blessings, take care.

Hey friend @javirid.

You made a mistake. That was it. Relax brother, take it easy.

@crypto.piotr is not a spammer.

With all due respect I am going to tell you some things, I hope you do not take it badly:

  • You have more than two years in Steemit and your reputation does not exceed 54.
  • You have almost no publications.
  • You have less than a thousand followers.
  • For the time that you have your SP is low.
  • Your publications do not generate any kind of comments. Even less, number of votes.

You should think about that.

All these indicators show that you do not have great experience in this community.

Then I can not explain why you reacted in that gross way to @ crypto.piotr. He is a person who has won the appreciation of all his followers (which are many). It is not a Bot. He is a real human being, with feelings, with problems, sorrows and joys. Same as you and me.

This publication of yours, I see it as a kind of apology. I think.
If so, I convey you my words of respect and admiration.

Otherwise, I invite you to get to know Piotr up close. Check his blog well, see the feedback in the comments. You'll be surprised!

I send you a fraternal hug. Get close to Piotr and you will surely grow, just as I am doing it and many other friends.

Hi @javirid

After reading your entire publication I realize that you are also a very passionate person in what you do and you maintain your position in what you write.
You can notice anger, often combine these two aspects can do or say things that cause problems.
It's fine not to regret what you do, but the best of any situation in which you fall out of anger should be learning, I see that you assume your mistake very well for you but then do two steps back and you contradict yourself in your own words.
I see you advocate for others who had nothing to do with your actions against piotr, but those are the consequences of not measuring what we do when passion and anger work together
Of course it is only my assessment I can be wrong, I apologize if I am wrong in what I say.

From Venezuela, a country that fights for its freedom, I send you a great greeting.

Y no lo he hecho.

Hi @javirid

Please allow me to remind you how did you call me yesterday, after you received my memo (with link promoting @machnbirdsparo latest publication).

You may consider me a spammer and I surely will ensure not to bother you again in the future, but calling someone "bitch" or "trash" isn't the way to go. Does it really surprise you that after insulting me I downvoted you recent post?

I'm obviously willing to walk away peacefully from this conflict and I don't mind removing my downvote, but only if you would be willing to publicly (on steem blockchain) appologize me for all those insults:

and ...

So it is really up to you.

@toofasteddie

Regards
Piotr

I'm obviously willing to walk away peacefully from this conflict and I don't mind removing my downvote

Thank you for considering the removal of the downvote -there were two of them, the first one was before my insults, just after I downvoted you post causing you 0.01 while you caused me much more than that-.

but only if you would be willing to publicly (on steem blockchain) appologize me for all those insults

That will no be happening. I insulted you and then you downvoted me. That's all. Those who upvoted my publication will be compensated for your downvote caused by my error. I deserved it and I must keep it that way.

However...

Looking at it many hours after the fact, I see that saying you those bad words have no explanation. I could say that the heatwave of these days could be the cause, but I would be lying to you. I should not have wrote "bitch", "shit" or "trash" when writing about this event. I should have not called you by those words. I should not be thinking those words when "researched" your account, either.

It was my fault. I would have not said it to you those words if we were face to face and all of these would have happened in the real world.

Please take notice that this is not the appologize which you were requesting. Take them as you want.

Steemit originated as a blog for casual posters. It is also a decentralized business platform. Sure we now have advertisements here, but people like @crypto.piotr provide a valuable service. They create focused awareness for businesses wanting to network with our decentralized community. Please keep this in mind. We in the crypto space are still all learning and developing our young market. Those memos exist for a reason. It is not like they are free via gmail or something. BTW, do you know if we are profiting from these ads at all?

Congratulations @javirid! You have completed the following achievement on the Steem blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
