[Last time...]

“What in heel is 'att?!" Hack exclaimed as he took another drag on his cigarette.

Ickied didn’t take the time to ponder, but was off in a flash, running down the dingy corridor towards the brig!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

[Deep in the hull of the Silverton, thirty-six hours earlier...]

Officer Ickied ran down the long, dim corridor towards the brig! Just ahead of him, the Jinn stood with the struggling boy Ollingthunder, the sharp point of the broom handle nearly piercing the young man’s neck.
”Auuugh! Help!” The lad gurgled.

The Jinn then yelled out something threatening in Arabic and Ickied stopped short, pulling his sword out of his scabbard! Behind him, Warrant Officer Surgeon Hack came limping along, a lit cigarette in his mouth.

“Ahh guess Ahh was wrang aboot heem bein' ready tae hang in a week! Looks loch ye can hang heem noo!" Hack admitted as he took another drag.

“At thes point, Ahh coods gang either way!” Ickied said as he circled the point of his sword in the direction of the Jinn.

The Jinn yelled out the same phrase again and this time dug the tip of the broom handle deeper into the boy’s neck, letting a small trickle of blood down his neck.

“Please Sairrr! Dae as he says!" Ollingthunder begged desperately.

“What th' fock is he sayin'?!" Hack said matter of factly as he flicked the long ash off of his smoke.

“Ahh git th' jist ay whit he wants! Lit heem pass, but min' yerself!" Ickied said as he turned his back to the wall and made room.

The Jinn wasted no time in moving forward. He kept a tight arm on the boy and the point of the broom handle deeply pinned into his neck as they quickly shuffled towards the galley stairs! Once they were up and out of sight, Ickied and Hack made for the steps!

Up on the main deck, it was Petty Offcier Aizzez-faire who first saw the Jinn and his hostage mount the top of the stairs and he ran to the ship’s bell, ringing the alarm!

The Jinn hustled the boy over to the starboard rail on the main deck and shouted aggressive words at everyone around him! Standing officer Fisky ran forward with a dagger with Boys Rmake and Ival beside him!

“Th' Jinn has escaped th' brig!" Fisky yelled as he moved closer, holding his dagger high in the air.

Commander Galligan jumped over the bridge railing and landed next to the main mast as Standing Officers Avedickeyyall and Enstless ran down the port side forecastle stairs and joined them!

It was a classic stand-off! The Jinn kept moving closer to the main deck rail, dragging the boy Ollingthunder along with him. At this point, Ickied and Hack came up the galley steps and out onto the main deck, Ickied’s sword still drawn. From behind the Jinn, Seaman Acoolette lunged at the Jinn but the crafty warrior was to fast for him and slashed the broom handle across his forehead, leaving a nasty gash before he retreated!

The Jinn yelled out again in Arabic, this time even more menacing then before!

“Stop! Dornt move oan heem!" The voice of Seaman Asif rang out from the forecastle, “He says he's awreddy a deid cheil, an' if anyain else threatens heem, he'll kill th' loon haur an' noo!”

The crew of the Silverton stood frozen as the Jinn and his hostage made their way over to the rail. In one final triumphant move, he threw the boy to the deck and jumped up on the top of the rail, waving the sharp point of the broom handle menacingly!

The deafening blast of a musket drowned out the final shouts and screams as the crew all looked on in shock! The Jinn’s right hand was severed from it’s wrist completely and both the hand and the broom stick flew to the deck with a thud!

“Auuugh!!!” The voice of the Jinn wailed as he fell backwards into the dark sea!

The crew all rushed to the rail, catching the last glimpse of the Jinn as he struggled to swim! In a moment, the strong, off-shore rip-current carried him away into the dark of the night!

“What th' fock jist happened?!" Fisky blurted out as he gazed down in to the ocean below.

It was then that crew finally looked up, and saw the steady arm of the Captain, still pointing his musket pistol at the rail! A large black cloud of smoke quickly drifted off the deck and into the night sky.

“Whit jist happened…?” The Captain said as he slowly lowered his pistol, “We jist lost oot oan a braw hangin'! ‘Att's whit happened!"
