While we know that common Japanese dishes are like sushi and ramen, there are others that are also worth trying. Some are actually more common like the teriyakis, dons and bento meals. This is where Karate Kid comes in

Karate Kid is a Japanese-themed quick service restaurant with not so many branches across the country. I got the chance lately to visit one of their branches at The Landmark in Makati City.

This table display was right in front of me while I was looking for what to order. The don (meaning bowl in Japanese) caught my attention but then it is spicy so no...

I looked up to the menu on the screen overhead and the "mura" (low cost) caught my eyes. At P99.00 (US$1.93) per don with punch iced tea, that will already be a complete meal. And the pork teri (short for teriyaki) looks good for the day.

Teriyaki (kanji: 照り焼き) is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. - Source

So here now is my pork teriyaki don, complete with rice, side veggies and a drink. How was it? The pork was tender which was great. It was not like others that my teeth had to get into a fight before I can chew them. The blend of the flavoring was also perfect. I just hope there were more of the veggies and the drink was so sweet. I thought I can feel the sugar in my taste buds. Except for the very sweet drink, it was all worth it meal.

I finished my meal and thought of taking another photo of the counter from my table. Then I noticed this guy to the left in the front table next to mine. Is he also taking photo of the restaurant counter? Or maybe playing games on his phone? Sometimes it is good to take your time, take it slow right after a good meal and notice what others around you are doing. 😄

There is a cheesy seafood on the screen menu. I wonder if it is like buttered seafood but butter was replaced with cheese. That may be worth a try when I pass by the area again.

Hahaha... thanks for the reminder. Don't worry. I am really just dining out most of the time because I do not cook. It's just that I used to eat in the same restaurant most of the time too. I learned to try different ones when I discovered tasteem. 😊

Hahaha....eating and then sweating..out 😉

wow, $1.93 for the price of a meal, that would only buy the drink over here. And it looks really good too, you all have alot of great, cheap places to eat over there!

So maybe you should come over and give our foods a try...

I would love that! I never say never so perhaps some day!
