To be a KID in 2019

Alrighty Then!!! Best lead in I could think of, on short notice. How many saw the disturbing news report of this weekend regarding the Catholic High School kids, Native Americans and the “House of Israel, Washington DC” groups? I hope that everyone saw it and have watched more than the first report showing a kid standing in front of a Elder Native American smirking. Between yesterday and this morning I have seen perhaps 6 hours total of the incident and what I saw, in its entirety, was very disturbing.

The high school kids were there for a “Right to Life” rally and were told to go to the Lincoln Memorial to wait for their bus back to Kentucky. So far, so good, right? Well, at the time another rally (Pow Wow) by Native Americans was wrapping up in the same area. But this isn’t what sparked the news machine. The “House of Israel, Washington D.C.” folks started harassing the Native Americans who were about finished with their rally and were beginning to disburse. One of the “Israeli” guy was saying just about anything any of us could think of that would be offensive to any American, including “You’re not a Native American, I am”. This was very tragic as the man was African American and obviously wasn’t even aware of his own heritage.

This one guy went on to call the kids, who were wearing “MAGA” hats just about every insulting thing imaginable. There was one youngish Black kid with the high schoolers that the (wanna be) Israelite began calling “Kanye Mother Fu****” among other very insulting things. So far no trouble, good control by the kids and their Chaperones.

Nathan Phillips, a Native American, began playing his drum and chanting a prayer to try separating the two groups (Nathan is a Vietnam war veteran) which was a nice thing although misguided. As he approached the kids for the most part they moved aside and actually began keeping rhythm with the drumming (kind of cool) and they began smiling and looking more at ease although a little uncomfortable. None of this, up to this point was in the first news video so of course it was VERY misleading (I guess somebody shot this with a phone and wanted to “get their stuff” on the news) nor did it show what happened after the face off. I am kind of waiting to hear from the kids for their perspective, not only the varied Adults who blame everything on the kids. Since the airing of the first video several of the children have gotten death threats. I wonder if the people making these threats have called them back and apologized for being an ignorant ass? If these are adults making these threats, they should be going to jail for assault on a minor. What say you? Mike, out
