One day I came to know that fish would be sold at our house. And that fish pond was a little far from the house. I got ready from home and went to the pond bank. Again, the male members of our family had arrived there first. When I arrived, I saw the fishermen present. The afternoon sun seemed to fill the surroundings with a strange light. The hot sun was shining on the water and sparkling, and the fishermen were spending their time busyly by the pond bank. With nets in hand, some were going down to their waists in the water and catching fish, while others were casting their nets together in the middle of the pond. There was a harmonious tone of hard work in their voices, the sound of the water and the occasional sight of fish jumping up and down created a different feeling. I was fascinated by the patriotic songs in their voices. As they were casting their nets, they were singing in a charming way. Meanwhile, a quiet breeze was blowing. We arrived and were staying in the shade under several banana trees. Not only did we listen to their songs, but we were also fascinated by the fish jumping out of the net from time to time. It was as if a light breeze was blowing in the scorching heat. We were able to appreciate the beauty of the fish through that opportunity.

After a while, the fishermen were seen pulling up the net. The silvery fish sparkled like small diamonds in the sunlight through the gaps in the net. The joy of that moment was clearly on the fishermen's faces, the joy of getting the fruits of their hard work in their hands. As the fish began to accumulate inside the bones, the atmosphere became like a pondside market. There was a commotion of fishermen all around, some bargaining, and others laughing happily. Although the purchase and sale of fish is done in advance, it can be seen that they negotiate prices because the fish are small and large. The scene of selling fish was even more colorful. Some were sitting with small baskets full of fish, some were holding them in their hands, showing the size and freshness of the fish. Many had put the fish in the net. However, when they slowly started bringing the fish upwards, I also moved away a little so as not to get wet. The only problem when you are actually on the pondside is that you have to stand in the scorching sun to take photos or you get wet. Yet, there is so much joy and love to be found in this moment. Love that cannot be found anywhere else.

I like watching the moment of fish sale even more because at this moment you can see different types of fish. The fish are of different sizes and shapes, making the dish more beautiful. The fish is measured using a digital scale. The people who come here to buy fish try to measure the fish on their own responsibility. However, the person in charge of the net and one of our people together measure the fish. And from this, sometimes the fish is kept for our home to eat. And this is how the process continues. Then when the fish was measured, I saw that all the fishermen left. When all the fishermen left, we packed our household items and left. Then we started cutting the fish and cooking.

It's a pleasure to read and admire the photos. Thank you for sharing your local fishing culture with us. I was struck by the clay containers that sit at the edge of the river.
How do they place them there? Are they floating?
What are the names of the different fish?
And what did you share?

Thank you for your post- 🙏
