In this post, you can see some photos I took of MetaQuest3, the virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) headset developed by Meta.

Information
This virtual reality headset was launched in October 2023. It was born as an evolution of the Quest2 model. One of the most interesting innovations compared to its predecessor was the technological advancements applied to the lenses.
Another interesting innovation was the ergonomic development of the headset itself.
The headset weighs approximately 500 g.
In a few months, this headset will turn two years old, and we can say that its market positioning is excellent. It is, in fact, one of the best-selling and most used VR headsets in the world.
The MetaQuest3 has driven the market for this type of headset. However, despite its current popularity, it has not solved the financial problems of the division that designed it, but this is a short-term event. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the coming years. Projects of this kind certainly require huge initial investments, which are usually recouped not immediately, but over the years.

Thoughts
I tried these VR headsets and was truly amazed. Once you've put them on perfectly, you truly enter the virtual world, a reality indistinguishable from reality. I tried an app that transported me directly to the African savannah and the center of Paris. I must admit, it was astonishing because it really felt like we were there, in the places the app had transported us to.
I think this technology could also be useful in the workplace, especially for servicing machinery. Instead of leafing through pages and pages of maintenance or repair instructions, this tool would enable a technician to immediately work on a faulty machine.

Conclusions
These virtual headsets are astonishing technology. Personally, I believe they can demonstrate, at a fairly affordable price, the potential of virtual and mixed reality. Despite the amazing technology, I believe this type of device will be transitory and will be replaced by smart glasses in five years.

In questo post potete vedere delle fotografie che ho scattato riguardo Meta Quest 3, ovvero il visore di realtà virtuale (VR) e mista (MR) sviluppato da Meta.

Informazioni
Il lancio sul mercato di questo visore virtuale è avvenuto in ottobre 2023. Nasce come evoluzione del modello Quest 2. Una delle novità più interessanti rispetto al suo predecessore è stata l’evoluzione tecnologica applicata alle lenti.
Un’altra novità interessante è stato lo sviluppo ergonomico del visore stesso.
Il peso del visore è di circa 500 g
Tra pochi mesi questo visore compirà due anni e possiamo dire che oggi il suo posizionamento sul mercato è eccellente. Risulta infatti uno dei visori VR più venduti ed utilizzati al mondo.
Il Meta Quest 3 ha trascinato il mercato di questa tipologia di visori. Peró nonostante la sua attuale popolarità, non ha risolto i problemi finanziari della divisione che lo ha progettato, ma questo è un evento misurato sul breve periodo. Bisognerà vedere cosa succederà nei prossimi anni. Progetti di questo tipo sicuramente richiedono investimenti iniziali enormi, che solitamente vengono recuperati non subito, ma negli anni.

Pensieri
Ho provato questi visori VR e ne sono rimasto davvero stupito. Una volta indossati alla perfezione, si entra davvero il mondo virtuale, in una realtà che non si può distinguere dalla verità. Ho provato un’applicazione che mi ha trasportato direttamente nella savana africana e nel centro di Parigi. Devo ammettere che è stato qualcosa di sbalorditivo perché sembrava veramente di essere lì, cioè nei posti in cui l'applicazione ci aveva trasportato.
Questa tecnologia penso che possa essere utile anche nell’ambito lavorativo, soprattutto per fare service a macchinari. Anziché sfogliare pagine e pagine di istruzioni per la manutenzione o per la riparazione, questo strumento metterebbe in condizioni un tecnico di operare immediatamente sul macchinario con problemi.

Conclusioni
Questi visori virtuali hanno una tecnologia sbalorditiva. Personalmente credo che oggi possano mostrare, ad un prezzo abbastanza economico, la potenzialità della realtà virtuale e mista. Nonostante la tecnologia sbalorditiva credo che questa tipologia di oggetti sarà transitoria e tra cinque anni lasceranno il posto agli smart glasses.
