Photography, Info, and Thoughts: The Horse

In this post, you can see some photographs I took in the outdoor stables of a racetrack located in Emilia-Romagna, a region of northern Italy.

Information
From a little research I've done, it seems that the horse descends from a certain breed of dog that dates back 55 million years. Over time, the evolution of the species has brought it to the larger size we know today. One of the most obvious evolutions it has undergone is its adaptation to grassy plains. To date, the first discoveries of horses date back to North America.
Throughout human history, the horse has played a key role. It has helped humans with transportation and agriculture, and has supported them in many battles to conquer or defend their lands.
Remember that the horse has also been an object of expansion; peoples such as the Mongols, Scythians, Arabs, and Comanches built power and empires thanks to mobility on horseback.
Some findings suggest the first domestications date back to around 3,000 BC.
Many figures are remembered in photos or paintings of them on horseback. The photo of Theodore Roosevelt on horseback, in uniform and with a wide-brimmed hat, leading the Rough Riders regiment in Cuba, comes to mind. What European doesn't remember the painting by Jacques-Louis David depicting Napoleon on a rearing white horse?

Thoughts
The horse is one of those animals that has always fascinated me, an animal for which I feel profound admiration. Probably because of its power, its mane, its speed, and its gaze.
The horse has long been a help to man, helping him overcome his physical limitations.
Furthermore, how many sculptures have been made of horses in motion? And why? I believe because the running horse represents beauty in motion.

Conclusions
The horse has been one of those animals central to human progress. For a certain period of time, horses participated in human journeys, helped us discover distant lands, and even stood by our side in many battles.

Informazioni
Da una piccola ricerca che ho effettuato sembra che il cavallo discenda da una certa tipologia di cani che risale a 55 milioni di anni fa. Il tempo è l’evoluzione della specie lo ha portato a dimensioni più grandi, quelle che conosciamo oggi. Una delle evoluzioni più evidenti che ha compiuto è stato anche l’adattamento alle pianure erbose. Ad oggi i primi ritrovamenti di cavalli risalgono all’America del Nord.
In tutta la storia dell’uomo, il cavallo ha ritagliato dei ruoli principali. Esso infatti ha aiutato l’uomo nei trasporti, nell’agricoltura e lo ha affiancato in tante battaglie alla conquista o per difendere le proprie terre.
Ricordiamo come il cavallo sia stato oggetto anche di espansione, popoli come Mongoli, Sciti, Arabi e Comanche hanno costruito potere e imperi grazie alla mobilità a cavallo.
Da alcuni rilevamenti sembra che i primi addomesticamenti risalgono intorno a 3000 anni avanti Cristo.
Molti personaggi sono ricordati con foto o dipinti in cui sono a cavallo, mi viene in mente la foto di Theodore Roosevelt a cavallo, con l’uniforme e cappello a tesa larga, alla guida del reggimento dei Rough Riders a Cuba. Quale europeo non ricorda il dipinto di Jacques-Louis David dove Napoleone è raffigurato su un cavallo bianco impennato?

Pensieri
Il cavallo è uno di quegli animali che ha sempre esercitato un certo fascino su di me, un animale per cui provo una profonda ammirazione.. Probabilmente per la sua potenza, per la sua criniera, per la sua velocità e per il suo sguardo.
Il cavallo è stato per tantissimo tempo un aiuto per l’uomo, lo ha aiutato a superare i suoi limiti fisici.
Inoltre quante sculture sono state eseguite di cavalli in movimento? E perché? Io credo perché il cavallo che corre rappresenti la bellezza in movimento.

Conclusioni
Il cavallo è stato uno di quegli animali centrali anche per il progresso dell’uomo. Per un certo periodo di tempo il cavallo ha partecipato ai viaggi dell’uomo, lo ha aiutato a scoprire terre lontane ed è stato anche al suo fianco in tante battaglie.
