Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 01/29/19> Remember me? It’s okay if you don’t.
It has been so...
It has been so long since I have posted a Daily Dose I wasn’t sure I would remember how to do this. One thing I have found that is very curious is that in my absence I have gained six new followers so I can only surmise that there are new bots coming online here on steemit.
In my effort to try and get back up to speed on here I did see that Steemit Inc. has promoted some lady to some high up position to help lead us to the Promised Land. I can’t even think of her name right now but I do remember reading that she has been here for several months and only has made like one or two posts and her account is valued at less than $1.00. Seems like her previous title was Communications Director or something like that, with that kind of track record no wonder that none of us know what the hell is going on with Steemit. Just where was she “communicating” and how? Channeling?
I have been busy...
I have been busy trying to get my situation sorted out on the employment side of life and on Monday I finally resigned my position with the company I have been with for over the last eleven years. I have been fighting to get paid some commissions that were due to me from 2017 sales and while it really doesn’t amount to a lot of money it became a matter of principle. After five months I have finally thrown in the towel and resigned, and the very night of my resignation I get an email from the CFO of the company telling me that he “finally” got the 2017 commissions reconciled for this account in question and the commissions I am due will be on my check on Thursday. There is a whole lot more to that story but I won’t go into it now.
They could keep the money for all I care, the experience of the situation and the company’s reluctance to address the issue in a timely matter showed me just how little they value their employees.
My only regret...
My only regret is that they didn’t just tell me to “hit the road” when I tendered my resignation. I start my new job on Thursday when I go get my computer and fill out all the forms so I have two days now to piss the current employer off so they just tell me to get the guzbuck out of their offices. I am pretty sure I can do it since the owner and VP of the department I have been working in will be in town today and I am sure they will want to talk with me.
I gave them two week’s notice on Monday that I am leaving so that would put me working thru February 8th, I may just come down with a bad case of the flu starting Wednesday afternoon. I hate to be like that but all is fair in love and war or so they say. I have never been one who likes to burn bridges but a good dumpster fire is needed sometimes just to keep the fire department on their toes and working their firefighting equipment for practice.
The last three months...
These last three months have been quite a ride emotionally for me and I look forward to getting January behind me and moving forward. The quicker I can separate myself from this negative energy situation the better off it will be for me and them. January 31 just can’t seem to get here soon enough.
Come February I look forward to starting a whole new chapter in my life and also I look forward to getting back on steemit on a daily basis and being able to interact with all of you like I did in the past, so hang in there with me if you will.
Until next time,
@sultnpapper
Note: Thanks for reading the Daily Dose. Be sure to check out this post by my good friend @thekittygirl where she shows us some new money https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@thekittygirl/la-muerte-del-dolar
(Looking to see if I have any record of you in my history. Your name does sound vaguely familiar.)
I am the one with the big round kitchen table, but have seldom been there for coffee lately.
Lookit this! You remind me of a guy that used to be around here... I'll come up with his name in a minute....
Elizabeth. Elly. I had a sister in law Ellie that I was pretty fond of. Course I've had more than my fair share of sisters in law so I've got a fair number of names covered.
Anyway, she is now managing director. I've heard her on 4 different shows this last week or so and think she's going to do just fine. She doesn't start playing a guitar when she gets a tough question for one thing.
You oughta at least give her a chance, she's a native born Texan, and seems to have her stuff packed pretty well. Time will tell, but this last 10 days or so has shown a huge change communication wise. All sorts of changes in the wind....
I'm glad you are back. I've missed you.
Thanks Big Tom. I have missed being here as well and I am more than happy to give Ms. Ellie May a chance since you pointed out she is a native Texan. Those are a whole lot better than the naive ones for sure.
I have a few more things to get squared away but those are minor things and then I should be back into my formally normal routine on here. Really looking forward to Thursday and the start of the new job.
You're back! And I'm already smiling in agreement at paragraph 2. I share your concerns – in fact I was lying in bed worrying about a banner that suddenly appeared at the top of the "Home" page yesterday or the day before, saying "Your advert here". Steemit shouldn't be keeping me awake at night, but things have been so chaotic in my life, with a new boiler finally being installed, that everything kind of went past in a blur yesterday and didn't really register until late at night.
That ad banner haunted me, because having used social media for years, I know that once advertisers get their teeth into a platform, they start making demands about content... then censorship and manipulation of search engines tends to follow.
I don't want to cast aspersions on this new CEO – it might be nothing to do with her. But corporate structure and ads – what could possibly go wrong?
Anyway, the best way to encourage your current employer to "let you go" is to talk loudly and excitedly to your colleagues about your new employer. Also say that they seem to be on the lookout for staff.
Glad to hear you finally got that boiler installed. I am working my way back here and in the next few days I hope to be back at it like I was previously.
I've had plenty of other stuff keeping me occupied that I didn't even notice that banner ad but I did see it now that you brought it to my attention.
They have to have some way to monetize this thing and ads can surely do that, but it will remain to be seen what other changes happen.
I am really not concerned on whether or not they tell me to hit the door. The way I see it is Wednesday is my last day there, if they don't tell to go I will be calling in sick the next seven days. They guzbucked me out of eight days of vacation at the end of December so they have that coming to them as far as I am concerned, it isn't like they are going to pay me for those days anyway. Even though according to the way things are supposed to be I should have three weeks vacation coming to me as soon as the new year started.
I have made it a point to let my fellow current co-workers know the reason for my departure and I can tell you that there isn't many people in that location that seem happy about how the company has been treating folks lately.
The boiler is being installed - it's not there yet, and it won't be until next week at the earliest! Apparently the piping is all wrong, so some of the floorboards have had to come up... what a saga.
The owner of the company I worked for before I was made redundant was known to sue people who left before their official leaving date for breach of contract. But it looks like you'll be well within your rights to leave that place. Good luck in your new job!
Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!

I missed seeing you nice photos. Welcome back and good luck with job change. I hope you aren't going to start working as a communication challenger.

Thanks. I've missed being here, I went over 400 consecutive days on here when I got started but life has gotten in the way the last couple of months. I have no intentions of being a communication challenger, just happened to notice the announcement and the comments pointing out her lack of use of the platform thus far prior to her move up the ladder. She may end up being the best thing to happen on here and I truly hope she is.
Congratulations! Your post has been selected as a daily Steemit truffle! It is listed on rank 20 of all contributions awarded today. You can find the TOP DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS HERE.
I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 3 SBD worth and should receive 115 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.

Howdy sir sultnpapper! yay you're finally on the road to a better work environment and career! How did they take the news when you gave them your two week notice? It's good to see you back!
The guy in the Houston office appeared shocked and damn near speechless. It was priceless from my perspective.
hahaha! they thought they had you for the rest of your career! That's funny indeed, good job!
