The forgotten volunteer's of Steem.
The Hive
This is half a ramble the other half the thought. The thought came first or was it the rambling of the mindless possibilities. that led to the thought Ah here nor there. So the hard fork 21. The benefits it says it will bring seem orientated towards the upper class. It opens the doors to bullying on a massive scale. Has there been any real thought put into this hard fork that seems more to be a sweet spoon for some.
Does it really hold much of value for the Steem token?
Does it do anything for the Steemit front end?
Everything about it seems orientated towards the rewards.

The first thing to come to my mind is the new user to Steemit. How they know to vote on their own post, the best time to do so. The initial reduction of the reward they will gain from any publication they present. This presents an even slower growth to anyone starting off on the entry point. Slower growth lower returns could possibly lead to lower retention.
Along with this we have the flag reward. Yes here we go again, Flag wars with a vengeance cause now rewards are there too. So many innocent are going to be hurt by this and so many will abandon their account. Increasing the difficulty to gain remuneration for the effort put in is always an easy way to lose support. It might also increase the difficulty in bringing users to the platform.
You know the one's who volunteer their time to the platform to support it by usage. Without the mass population Steem begin to lose its holding. A team of witness that do anything but process blank chains, Simply because the traffic is no longer there for them to process.

For the value of the token it does nothing. Maybe it has a negative effect. With the possibility of loss of present members and a harder retention rate to reach. Maybe the witness will have to do many more posts that have many words. (I do not read every witness post that is made, so no I do not know the value of the content the words you write are worth.) Are these posts really worth the reward they gain just because a certain person wrote them.
The function on "Steemit" and the rewards are not what will be the success or not of Steem. How Steemit works or other interfaces to the chain are not what will have an effect on the ability to use Steem.
Even when mass adoption to the platform is present through alternative options. This will have a limited effect on the value of the token. The majority of business who make use of the platform will do so with an SMT. thing suggest. This allows them to permit members of their community to utilise their Steem Power. There will be no need for anyone using entering a new business site using the Steem chain by use of an SMT. to hold any of their own Steem. (delegation of RC).

I Personally feel my voice on this or any other topic will be ignored. I do not talk with the mindset of gaining a massive personal wealth, I think with the mindset of a greater continuous decentralisation of rewards. Not just in Steem
Every time we get set free, we gain enslavement to something else that is under the control of another. To release ourselves we enslave ourself to the opinion of a few representatives that represent the interests of themselves and not those who elected them to position.
Here we have a situation were we are under the enslavement of POP Proof of Power. Not Proof of Stake. Voting to a witness from anyone who does not have the finance to provide a large investment, will not serve any difference to the ranking. Those who have the power also have the control over the chain via the top witness. Of which A majority are there because of the same voters. Nothing decentralised about the governance.
Sounds a bit like the same thing we want to change in the governments of countries. Yet, It seems to be the goal here.
Are the bot owners busy working out the %'s for a 50/50 payout?
Why would I not leave my vote automated and simply get double the rewards?

Well if you read this far bless ye cotton socks.

I was wondering about the upvote bots, too. If they don't increase their vote to make up for our reduced reward, they are going to lose a lot of business.
