"Are you here? It's nice to see you. I am a bit in trouble," Tom said. You know, I've been a social worker for 18 years working with children and everything went wrong from the moment I met her and moved to Holten. You should know she's an artist, Polish in a club or gang that... Scams men and I don't understand I didn't see it coming. The signs.. If I think back they were always present.
We went to Norway, she was the first who said yes, you know Doc, what girl wouldn't jump on the free train and me, the donkey went to buy the tickets and my grandparenrs, I mean my Dad... Dad can't hear her name. If he only thinks of her he is close to a heartattack. He gave all his savings 14,000 euros for a holiday. He doesn't't understand how she could take it and next abandon him. She kept the house and everything and even said I threw her off the stairs and told the police I hit her, although I slept on the couch and she beat me up. The police raised an eyebrow, said they didn't see any sign of violence and wrote in the report she abused me... "

Tom swallows it feels as if it's not even hard to tell his life story to a... What exactly are we? Strangers or in a way birds of the same feather?

"There's so much to tell. I lost everything and now I am jobless and even became homeless. I should have sued her a second time since the judge saw I was right and looked right through her."

Tom stands barefoot, without coat in front of me. I wait. There are times it's enough to listen and wait till the flood of words came to an end.

"The 6th floor looks different. I guess you have no room? I admit I drink now and I want revenge."

I study his earring, interesting. It's hard to believe he is into women. After all those years Tom has a face and he could have a voice too.

"You can write and publish, " I suggest." A series if books about the scamming lady, words can e very powerful, she might not like it and who know pays you off or mire men will contact you. You can sue her and her friends together."

"I like to write... "

"Then write every day 1 hiur what pops up. It's not important if it's a story, it will be one day and... Take care of yourself and stop drinking. No one takes you serious if you look like this."

The man on bare feet, it's Fall, 8°C, seems to feel relieved as he leaves the room. The 6th floor is quiet, time to go home and have a look at the painting I made before I left home this morning. It looks like shit, a bit like Toms broken promise of love, I will remove the paint.

(Nobody takes you seriously if they see you like this.) This phrase makes me think about how appearance influences others and obviously ourselves. They say they treat you as they see you, and I agree.
I wish you a happy Sunday.

If instinct makes up it's mind about those we meet within a few seconds, even long before the brain is aware of it, appearance does matter.

A happy Monday night / week.

Appearance is basic: Let's analyze, a clean, organized person, NOT necessarily too elegant enters a restaurant, they are received well, but a disheveled person, who obviously does NOT put interest in their presentation arrives at the restaurant, strange looks are present, and it is just an example

There are people, both women and men, who specialize in deceiving, defrauding, and playing with the emotions of those who show vulnerability. It has always been believed that women are less strong than men, and perhaps this is true physically in some cases—there are women who are much stronger than some men, even physically. So, to mistreat and deceive, you don't need a specific gender, but rather a mind capable of staging a charade and a victim capable of falling for it. Even those with the most daring and sharp minds can easily fall prey.

If I looknaround me I see there are people with a very long wish list if it comes for oucking the right friends. Men are not different from women. If it's about the money there's no room for something else.
I have very strong doubts only vulnerable people are abused and bump into scammers and farmers. So are kindhearted and those keepntelling themselves they can do with less and it's good to share.
This beside of the fact it's clear that it pays off.
Thebaverage person only sees what he likes to see: a bag of money, a filled bank account even if this is not the case.

Wow, @wakeupkitty, this is powerful stuff! The raw emotion and vulnerability in Tom's story are palpable. You've captured a moment of crisis with such poignant detail – the bare feet in the cold, the desperation in his voice, the complexity of the scam. The line about the painting looking like "Tom's broken promise of love" is particularly striking.

This piece really highlights the human side of social work and the toll it can take. The advice you give him is spot on, too – turning pain into art, reclaiming the narrative.

I'm eager to know what happens next! Are you planning to continue Tom's story? I'm sure others are feeling the same. What inspired you to write this piece? Thanks for sharing such a compelling narrative!
