Because Jack Likes You | Arthur Morgan's Untold Adventures, Part 19

It was a bright morning, and I was wandering around camp when I noticed Abigail sitting in her tent, completely engrossed in a book. I started walking over, but before I could say anything, she looked up and asked me for a favor, something about cheering up Jack. Poor kid had been feeling low lately with all the chaos going on in our camp, and Abigail figured I was the best person for the job since Jack liked me. I gave her a bit of a hard time about it, but eventually I agreed and set off to find him.

Didn’t take long. I spotted him sitting alone, looking kind of down. I walked over and asked, “You wanna come fishing with me?”

His eyes lit up. “Fishing? Sure!”

Turned out he had a fishing pole Hosea made him. So, we saddled up and rode off toward the river, not too far from camp.

As we rode, he asked where we were going and if we’d be coming back to the old camp near Blackwater. I told him no this was our new spot for now. He seemed disappointed. Said he left his storybook behind because we left Blackwater in a hurry. I promised we’d get him another one sometime.

We reached the river, and I helped him down from the horse. I myself wasn’t exactly an expert fisherman, but that wasn’t the point. I just wanted to give him a little break from all the tension but still, it didn’t take him long to realize I wasn’t catching anything.

After a while, he got bored. He said while pointing in a direction. “I’m gonna go pick some of those red flowers. I’ll be right back uncle Arthur.”

“Don’t go too far,” I told him, without looking away from the water. I was still trying to catch something worthy to bring back to camp but was having a hard time...

Jack came back a little later, holding out a necklace made of flowers. “It’s for Momma,” he said with a proud smile. It was a sweet gesture, one of those small moments that really sticks with you.

Then things took a nasty turn. Two men approached us. They were Pinkertons (a private detective agency). They introduced themselves as agents Milton and Ross. They said that they were looking for Dutch, something about a train robbery near Granite Pass.

I tried to play it cool, but Milton wasn’t buying it. He leaned in and said, “We already had our little talk with Mac Callander. Let’s just say... he didn’t make it.”

I clenched my jaw. The anger boiled up, but I held it back because of Jack.

After an exchange of few tense words, they left.

On the ride back, Jack looked up at me. “Why did you lie about Dutch? What did they mean about Mac?”

I kept my eyes on the trail. “Don’t worry about them, Jack. They’re just men who like making trouble.”

Back at camp, I brought Jack to Abigail, then went to find Dutch. I told him everything. He didn’t seem too rattled. Said the Pinkertons were just trying to scare us, and for now, we’d do nothing.

Disclaimer

Arthur Morgan and the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 might be fictional creations by Rockstar Games, but my love for this game? 100% real. This is a new kind of adventure I wanted to bring to Steemit. I’m narrating the story of RDR2 from the perspective of its protagonist, Arthur Morgan, offering a fresh and immersive take on his journey. Rather than directly copying the game’s dialogues, I’m weaving Arthur’s emotions and experiences into a creative and fictional retelling. You can also experience this story in a cinematic way. I play the game, record my gameplay, edit the footage in the best possible way, and upload it to my YouTube channel. This way, after reading each story episode, you can watch it unfold like a movie.

Your imagination always makes Arthur a hero. Ha haa..😀. I am waiting for his failure.

All I can say is that Arthur is not a saint. I have shown you only his positive side. Soon, you will get to know his dark side as well. Robbery and killing missions are coming soon...

Ok, looking forward.

I always admire those with great imagination, as Einstein once said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge", I would alter it a little, "Imagination is more interesting than knowledge."

Thank you for writing.
