Farm year /#freewrites
My fourth year in the University was a million buck of workload. It was a total Nightmare. Everyone had been looking foward to this particular year because fourth year was internship year aka farm year.
No classroom teachings this year, we were going to be out on the field. Well, we were in for a lot of bushwacking and hell, no one told us. The Curriculum says industrial farming and I had always imagine myself in a tractor with those cute meshed hat to protect your self from the sun but there we were, with our cutlasses and hoe, clearing, cleaning and planting. I felt like I was gonna die. (I didn't, but I collapsed thrice on the field before the end of internship)
The first day of resumption, we were moved from the farm center to a Moringa plantation. The weeds on this plantation were as tall the Moringa tree itself. And when the farm supervisor explained that from one tree to the other was actually a pathway which had been taken over by the weeds and we would be clearing it. I sunk to the ground. He gave each person a row of trees. And there goes our bush wacking from day one.
We got frustrated. Ohh, we rebelled... (To deaf, ears. If you want your grades you do the fucking job assigned to you)
Lol
I got thinner, I had bad fevers too. But, we all got used to it at the end. The breaking zone was when army worms infested our plants, I cried over hardwork lost. And my second semester my whole body was rebelling, I go late to the farm, wouldn't go on some days.
When the farm supervisor saw me one time, he said.
"You missed farm yesterday Wemimo, You know you won't be getting a score."
"I smiled and sauntered away."
I guess my brain was rebelling too, because it didn't register that as a negative .

that sounds intense. I have tiny Moringa trees - so, the bushwhacking wouldn't be bad here :)
Really intense. Good for you.
