Where My Engagement / Votes Went In 2018. Where, Who Did Your Support Go Too Last Year
@abh12345 (@steemcommunity) is doing another one of his charts for us to use for self evaluation / improvement. I try and take advantage of it every time he does one of these chart. I find it to be very helpful and informative. It is open to all with a simple comment requesting the pie chart.

Here are my two charts for you to review 72% of my vote goes to Accounts that have less SP then I do. This is a good indication of where my support is directed. Let’s break it down further as the next chart will show.
Accounts with SP less the 500 SP receives 43% of my vote support.
501 - 5000 SP Minnow accounts receives 36% of my vote, support.
That’s a total of 79% of my support went to minnows and redfish in 2018.
19% of my support went to Dolphins. That seems like a lot but not so much when you look at the chart below from @steemcommunity , @paulag . Over the last 15 weeks the number of minnows that moved into dolphin statues Is 14. That is only the people that I engage with not the total number of accounts that grew to Dolphin statues. As a result I engage with more Dolphins now more then 15 weeks ago.

I have stated in the past that the single most important thing you can do here is build a foundation. The redfish / minnows of today will be the Dolphins and Orcas tomorrow . It takes time and investment in order to accomplish. Engaging with others, make freinds and share ideas. But most important, Have Fun and Enjoy the experiences.

My freind @Priyanarc gave me the idea for this post.
It'll be interesting to see how those pies change by the end of 2019, @wolfhart, because, as I you allude to, the folks you were upvoting as minnows who are now dolphins (of which I am happy to be listed among :), will alter who you've been voting for to some degree, even if you don't change who you're upvoting for (if such a thing were possible as much as people come and go around here).
That said, your pie was a little more upward tending than mine, and I don't think that's a bad thing. One, it means you're aware of some dolphins and orcas who actually post, and two, in doing so, you make yourself known to them. Whether that pays off or not for you, obviously, is up to them, but the folks upstream need to continue to build stake in order to be there to curate the rest of us downstream.
So, glad you did this post, and kudos to @priyanarc for giving you the idea. :)
Some of the dolphin post and engage a lot. And it only takes a few to influence the data. Even Asher became a Dolphin in 2018. So I agree that as time goes on we will engage with dolphin and orcas more because we were raised with and they have become friends.
Hence the foundation reference. And it is the same in life as we grow older and we and our friends become more influential.
I also think that the dolphins and orcas do more downstream supporting then any other time. Or at least for the year I have been here.
I still hope the price stays low so I can make it to Dolphin Statues. If the price goes up I might miss the boat.
Well, it would seem that if STEEM is going to become more than what it is, the window for investing at below $1 USD is going to close at some point, right? It's been bouncing around $0.40 here for a solid day, I think, with some relatively high trading volume, too. So, anyway, I've done what I can do for now, but if things were to drop lower than the $0.20 or so it managed a while back, I'd be back in the game. :)
I agree as far as engaging with more dolphins as time goes by because they'll be us. Orca status is a stretch still, but anyway, the more of us who can take advantage of the lower prices to build stake, the better.
Yea I am about tapped out myself. I was hopping to do a little buy-in in February but that is not looking to good. I will see its still 10-15 days away. The price is giving me some concern.
It will go up . I have increased my stake during this period, it will never be as high as I would like. ; )
That Asher's post made me rethink my voting behavior and cast some spare votes for smaller accounts.
For the first time in the last few months, I opened our “New” and was pleasantly surprised to see that there are far fewer spammers out there and now it is much easier find good authors writting original content. Previously, it was comparable to finding a needle in a haystack.
You also have to know where to look for them at.
Look at @pifc. @payitforward. There is a curation there that people promote quality post on a weekly basis

Wow, You are doing so much for the community and people. Specially minnow and red fishes need support so much . I am really glad that you came up with this amazing idea by showing your contribution towards people . Since I started here I have said that we need to build our own foundation. And that is made up of our peers. We must never forget the redfish and minnows giving them support so that they can grow and support. It’s all about the people and community. A raising tide raises all boats

I love when people support Redfish and Minnows much more than high value accounts because the road to become a dolphin is long and curvy...
