Kommt aus China, kann sich sehen lassen

Hab ja gestern schon über Linux geschrieben, aber das hier ist zu gut um es zu ignorieren. Deepin 25 Beta ist raus und die chinesischen Entwickler haben sich richtig ins Zeug gelegt. Diese Linux-Distribution sieht aus als hätte jemand Windows 11 und macOS in einen Mixer geworfen und das Beste von beiden rausgeholt.
Deepin war schon immer eine der schönsten Linux-Distributionen, aber mit Version 25 haben sie nochmal richtig einen draufgesetzt. Das Desktop-Environment DDE (Deepin Desktop Environment) wurde komplett überarbeitet und sieht jetzt noch eleganter aus. Die haben sich offensichtlich Gedanken gemacht, wie man Linux für normale Leute attraktiver macht.
Was mich besonders beeindruckt ist, wie durchdacht alles wirkt. Die neuen Animationen sind butterweich, das Design ist konsistent und die ganze Oberfläche fühlt sich sehr poliert an. Das ist nicht so’n zusammengewürfelter Open-Source-Kram, sondern sieht aus wie ein professionelles Betriebssystem.
Der neue Dateimanager ist richtig schick geworden. Mit Tabs, verbesserter Suche und einer aufgeräumten Oberfläche die auch Windows-Umsteiger sofort verstehen. Die haben auch endlich das Kontrollzentrum überarbeitet - jetzt findet man Einstellungen tatsächlich da wo man sie erwartet.
Besonders cool ist, dass Deepin 25 standardmäßig mit Wine und anderen Kompatibilitäts-Tools kommt. Das bedeutet, dass Windows-Programme oft direkt laufen ohne dass man erst stundenlang rumkonfigurieren muss. Für viele Leute ist das der Hauptgrund warum sie nicht zu Linux wechseln.
Die Performance soll auch deutlich besser geworden sein. Deepin hatte früher den Ruf etwas träge zu sein, aber die Beta fühlt sich richtig flott an. Die haben wohl unter der Haube ordentlich optimiert.
Was mir weniger gefällt ist, dass Deepin aus China kommt und man nie so genau weiß was da im Hintergrund abläuft. Klar, ist Open Source, aber trotzdem haben manche Leute Bedenken wegen Datenschutz. Ist halt eine persönliche Entscheidung.
Die Installation ist super einfach geworden. Fast so simpel wie bei Ubuntu, aber mit viel mehr Style. Der Installer führt einen Schritt für Schritt durch und erklärt alles verständlich. Selbst meine Mutter könnte das wahrscheinlich.
Deepin Store wurde auch verbessert und bietet jetzt mehr Software an. Nicht nur Linux-Programme, sondern auch Android-Apps über einen integrierten Emulator. Das ist schon ziemlich praktisch, besonders für Leute die auf ihre Handy-Apps nicht verzichten wollen.
Der neue Kernel 6.8 bringt bessere Hardware-Unterstützung mit. Besonders bei neueren Laptops und Grafikkarten sollte alles besser laufen. WiFi 7 wird auch unterstützt, falls jemand schon so moderne Hardware hat.

Was mich am meisten überrascht hat: Die deutschen Sprachpakete sind richtig gut geworden. Früher war die Übersetzung oft holprig, aber jetzt liest sich alles natürlich. Die haben sich offensichtlich Mühe gegeben.

Für Windows-Umsteiger ist Deepin 25 definitiv einen Blick wert. Die Lernkurve ist flach, das System sieht gut aus und die meisten Sachen funktionieren einfach. Ist vielleicht nicht die Distribution für Hardcore-Linux-Nutzer, aber für normale Leute perfekt.

Die Beta kann man kostenlos runterladen und ausprobieren. Würde ich jedem empfehlen der mal schauen will, ob Linux mittlerweile eine Alternative zu Windows ist. Spoiler: Ist es.

I already wrote about Linux yesterday, but this is too good to ignore. Deepin 25 Beta is out and the Chinese developers have really outdone themselves. This Linux distribution looks like someone threw Windows 11 and macOS into a blender and pulled out the best of both.
Deepin has always been one of the most beautiful Linux distributions, but with version 25 they’ve really stepped it up another notch. The desktop environment DDE (Deepin Desktop Environment) has been completely redesigned and now looks even more elegant. They’ve obviously thought about how to make Linux more attractive to regular people.
What particularly impresses me is how well thought out everything seems. The new animations are buttery smooth, the design is consistent, and the whole interface feels very polished. This isn’t some cobbled-together open-source stuff, but looks like a professional operating system.
The new file manager has gotten really slick. With tabs, improved search, and a clean interface that even Windows switchers will understand immediately. They’ve also finally overhauled the control center - now you actually find settings where you expect them.
Particularly cool is that Deepin 25 comes with Wine and other compatibility tools by default. That means Windows programs often run directly without having to configure for hours first. For many people, that’s the main reason they don’t switch to Linux.
Performance is also supposed to have improved significantly. Deepin used to have a reputation for being a bit sluggish, but the beta feels really snappy. They’ve apparently done some serious optimization under the hood.
What I like less is that Deepin comes from China and you never know exactly what’s going on in the background. Sure, it’s open source, but some people still have privacy concerns. It’s a personal decision.
The installation has become super easy. Almost as simple as Ubuntu, but with much more style. The installer guides you step by step and explains everything clearly. Even my mom could probably do it.
Deepin Store has also been improved and now offers more software. Not just Linux programs, but also Android apps through an integrated emulator. That’s pretty handy, especially for people who don’t want to give up their phone apps.
The new kernel 6.8 brings better hardware support. Especially with newer laptops and graphics cards, everything should run better. WiFi 7 is also supported, in case someone already has such modern hardware.
What surprised me most: the German language packs have gotten really good. The translation used to be often choppy, but now everything reads naturally. They’ve obviously put effort into it.
For Windows switchers, Deepin 25 is definitely worth a look. The learning curve is gentle, the system looks good, and most things just work. Maybe not the distribution for hardcore Linux users, but perfect for regular people.
The beta can be downloaded and tried for free. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to see if Linux has become an alternative to Windows by now. Spoiler: it has.
