Hi, there! How are you? I hope that you are doing great. Welcome to my post. It's the Alive and Thriving report on Monday, Aug 18, 2025. I shared two short stories about two of my patients!

Monday was an average busy day for me. I consulted 22 patients in my chamber. In the visa medical section, I had to examine several people who came for the fitness test.

A above-30 patient visited me to check if he was having diabetes or not. For the last couple of months, he was peeing more, and he was feeling thirsty most of the time-two typical and classical features of diabetes! On inquiry, he told me that he was losing his body weight also! I advised fasting and post-prandial blood sugar. His fasting blood sugar was 356 mg/dl, and postprandial sugar was 660 mg/dl! Very high blood sugar!! As usual, he didn't want injections (insulin). So, I started with oral medicines. I asked him to come for a follow-up after one week!

Another above-40 expat came with a sense of feeling unbalanced (vertigo), along with a disturbing dry cough. He was a known diabetic and was on oral medication for that. He wanted to check his blood sugar and blood lipids! His random blood sugar was 555 mg/dl! His total cholesterol was 202 mg/dl, and his triglycerides were 1163 mg/dl (very high)! He wasn't on any lipid-lowering medicines. Even though he was on a combination oral diabetic medicine, his blood sugar was very high. I added and increased medicine doses. I also added lipid-lowering medicines. It's quite important to check the blood sugar and lipids after a certain period (3-6 months) despite taking medicines for the condition, to assess the effectiveness of the medicines!

On Monday, after lunch, I could walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes. It helped me reach 11,779 steps on the day (according to the Fitbit app). These steps earned me 0.65 $SWEAT!

I skipped the afternoon nap. I worked on the laptop. I also helped my son with his studies!

Okay. That's all for today. Alhamdulillah, I am alive, healthy, and thriving. How about you?
