My Actifit Report Card: June 9 2019
It was a nice day today perfect for a nice long ebike ride and disc golf so that is what I did.
I went around 24 miles round trip on the ebike to a local disc golf course that doesn't use a lot of chemical on the natural looking grassy areas. The grass does grow very thick and you do end up looking a lot for discs on this course.
This is a nice looking grassy field imho:
My first throw off the tee went long into the out of bounds grass. I ended up searching for it for a long time but eventually I found it. On the second tee I threw the same disc into a tree and searched for it again for a long time.
A group of younger folks caught up with me and they threw their discs into some taller grass and searched for them at this basket too. Eventually we all found our discs after searching together and they invited me to play along with them. I thought it would be fun so I tagged along with them.
I ended up playing all eighteen baskets using mostly my Tobu disc with the tracker. They seemed to like the disc and one of them said that they were interested in buying one.
It was a fun round but one person ended up losing three discs and I think maybe another guy lost one disc.
Of the four of us, I was the only one that played the notorious "Christmas Tree" basket, as I like to call it. There are so many closely spaced trees here and almost no fairway. Without a tracking disc it is very easy to lose a disc here. (I almost lost my Tobu disc when it stopped working in wet grass once on this basket)
Bike Safety Tip
Riding down to the disc golf course was a bit exciting this time. I thought I would go slower through town since some people don't expect a bike to be moving too fast and pull out in front of you or turn left close in front of you.
I was moving just under twenty miles and hour and ended up being passed in the middle of a roundabout by a pickup passing close enough for me to kick. (When I was younger I probably would have kicked the truck, lol)
Unfortunately the roads around here don't have much room in the roundabouts. The area where bikes usually ride goes away right before the intersection.
For so many reasons passing a bike in a narrow roundabout is really not such a good idea especially if the bike it traveling any decent speed. It is difficult to stay riding over to the side while pedaling and leaning into a turn. Any major movement by either vehicle could clip the bike just enough to lose control and perhaps get run over by other closely following traffic. Additionally, having a car right beside a bike forces the bike to turn at the first part of the roundabout.
Next time I ride through a roundabout here I'm going in fast and playing hogs of the lane. There would be no way to pass if I did that plus I can ride twenty five miles and hour which is as fast as most people go through these intersections.
Another fun and adventurous day.

Thank you. It's those long ebike rides and the 18 basket big course that did it.
Sounds like a fantastic day out. I think one of advantages of disc golf could be that more tall grasses could be allowed to grow. We often worry about our forests but it is actually our grasslands that are most threatened from mono-cropping and human development. If we let them grow and allow ruminants to graze them but in rotation, they become fantastic carbon sinks and no animals are disturbed or insects poisoned and I think we could still maintain some short grass fairways for you disc golfers but you might have to fight gopher for disc back:)
That's a great idea! I'm definitely thinking along the same line as that.
A very beautiful view of my brother
God's creation is really beautiful

Thank you @kabil I agree it was a wonderful view.
The grass looks great. Looks like it is already made for golf stuff
It is a difficult and challenging course to play but if you can control your throws well enough to stay out of the tall grass you can do well.
The day was really interesting. You have to be definitely very careful on the roads.
The roads have been getting more congested and it seems like it is harder to get around by bike. I agree that you do need to be careful on the roads.
Massive count I must say. I can imagine the truck and bike incident, I've had one experience growing up and we traveled to the village, I took the bike and wanted to visit a friend but car I felt targeted the water puddle on the side of the road and unleashed it on me. I was all covered with muddy water, I had to go back home to take a bath and change clothes. Lol.
That sounds awful, I've never had that happen on a bike. The worst thing that ever happened to me was getting hit on the nose from some bird droppings. I was riding my bike kind of mad about something and the bird didn't help things much. After a while I calmed down and had to laugh real hard about my misfortune, lol.
I don't know much of anything about disc golf, but having a disc with a tracker sounds like a great idea.
It has really given me a lot more confidence in throwing some harder shots and saved a lot of time in looking for discs. I like it a lot.
