Happy Monday ๐ and a very warm welcome to my report. We are onto a new week, headed deeper into August. Hopefully you had or are having a great day.
Mine has been ok and it's now time to break it down including the trending stories. You definitely know the drill ๐น. Thank you for stopping by and let's quickly take a look, come on๐จ.
So today I didn't have my morning walk, instead I handled the the house chores and kept following the trending stories.
My first walk came around noon, going to the grocery for some cooking ingredients.
It was a nice cloudy day, a little warmer than yesterday though. I walked a little further to the pharmacy picking up some prescriptions.
Anyways, my last walk was this evening enjoying the cool evening breeze around the neighborhood.
So then now let's look at the trending stories.
Starting off in Gaza, the mass murder/ genocide kept going, today the biggest story is the targeted killing of 5 Al Jazeera journalists in their tent outside Al Shifa hospital๐ฟ.
That attack has drawn strong international condemnation including from UN.
Targeting of journalists is a war crime, But Israel doesn't care and am sure this batch won't be the last ones killed๐.
So far 232 journalists have been killed in Gaza since the war began.
To justify the murders, Israel says one of the journalists, Anas al Sharif, was the head of Hamas terrorist cell but has produced little evidence to support that๐.
In the other war, European allies of Ukraine have insisted that Ukraine be included in Friday's meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska. However, Trump has said he will talk to the European leaders before that meeting. Adding that he will try to get back territory for Ukraine in the talks with Putin.
Back in the US, Trump has deployed National Guard to Washington DC as he pledges a crackdown on crime and homelessness๐
,800 soldiers will be sent to the capital. He says the city has been taken over by violent gangs and blood thirsty criminals.
Further down, Colombia trending as presidential hopeful Miguel Uribe has died at a hospital two months after being shot while he was on a campaign trail. Politics is indeed a dirty game๐ฟ.
Finally, Stargazers will soon be treated to what could be one of the year's most dazzling displays, with the Perseid meteor shower reaching its peak tonight and Tuesday night.
The shower lights up the skies each summer, and is known for its bright, fast-moving meteors - often dubbed "shooting stars". However, visibility could be affected by bright moonlight from the recent Sturgeon Moon, making it harder to see the fainter streaks.
The Perseids are visible to the naked eye - but local weather will play a major role, so check your forecast before heading out. Then do share the lovely images๐ฏ.
