One of the largest airport duty free shopping - Part 1
The first time I was at the Istanbul airport was in 2016, I was very impressed by the duty free of the airport. I have been to Dubai and Singapore airport long time back and lately they have also had transformations. I have heard they are the best ones but then I have not seen them in the recent years, so I do not know, from the pictures I am sure they are. They are amazing in terms of their design and architecture, but for duty free do not know how they will be. I have also read and seen pictures of the China and Korea airports which are supposed to be the biggest ones in the world. How fascinating it will be to visit them. Anyways, this time it is Istanbul and it is no less, I am sure it gives a good competition to all of these airports.
I insisted my family that we should leave early for airport so that I get time to spend at the airport duty free. Not that I had anything particular in mind to shop, but considering the size of the airport I knew it would take time even if I had to just stroll through it.
These are some interesting facts about Istanbul Airport
Total Area: 76.5 million square meters. Mumbai and Muscat airports are barely half a million square meters size.
Terminal Area: 1.4 million square meters, and it's the third-largest airport terminal building in the world.
Passenger Capacity: Currently it's 90 million passengers annually and they want to go more then double in future.
Duty-Free Area: 53,700 square meters, which is huge and 10 times larger then Mumbai and Muscat airport which are my frequently travelled airports. They look like babies in front of the Istanbul one.
They have a nice green zone at the entrance
As soon as I enter in front there is a big Turkish delight sweet shop. Turkish sweets are famous. I enjoy eating the Kunefe, there are different types of Baklavas and many other sweets. We had already done our sweet shopping from the Istanbul local market so it was not necessary to buy anything from here.
They named it as the old bazaar because here they were selling all their traditional stuff.
There is loads of food, it looks nothing less then a factory
There are ample shops of liquors and perfumes
There are many fancy restaurants, pubs and food courts catering to all type of people suiting their budgets.
I will continue more of it in other parts.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
@nainaztengra, what a fantastic finale to your Istanbul Airport Duty-Free series! I especially loved that you highlighted the art installations amidst all the shopping. The wired communication piece is thought-provoking, and that butterfly made of metal waste is genuinely inspiring - a beautiful reminder of sustainability.
It's also super interesting to see the crypto advertisements so prominently displayed! Did you notice if there was a lot of interest in them? And I'm with you on the magnet souvenirs; it's the perfect way to capture memories from travels. Thanks for taking us along on your journey through the airport, and safe travels on your next adventure! 😊✈️🌍
Actually I wrote 3 parts and then by mistake published the final one first, anyways the correction is made.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it.
