Garden Glory Contest: Canberra 15th October, 2025
When I read about, I stepped outside my house during lunch time.
There was a slight coolness in the air, and the sun's rays filtered through the branches of the trees and scattered on the ground. The garden in front of me seems like a picture of life itself.
The greenery of the various plants and their hidden fragrance filled the entire atmosphere with freshness. The leaves swayed gently in the breeze, as if they were all creating melodious music together.

The lemon tree is looking different as it has a lot of flowers at this moment. Although all will not grow into lemon, it gives me hope that I will get a few of them.
Breaking the long silence of the cold weather in Canberra, the sun's rays are feeling better, and I can see new leaves slowly coming back on the branches of the trees. When spring arrives, a different freshness fills the air.

When spring arrives here, it feels like it's even better than before, but it's true that almost all our figs are eaten by magpies and parrots.
It's almost 1 p.m., and the sky is clear. The soft golden sun and the cool breeze is creating a sweet rhythm, and I am walking here during lunch time which seems beautiful.

The flowers have started blooming, the grass is greener, and the fragrance emanating from the garden is different which is soothing my mind.
The fig tree in front of our house is soon gonna be different. It will bear fruit, as the leaves are already visible. It does every year fruit, and soon, juicy figs will appear on the branches. But I have permanently placed this white net on the tree.
You know why?
As soon as the figs will ripe, magpies and parrots will come from the sky, with a sense of a celebration.
They're like uninvited guests, excited, free, and desperately hungry. So, despite our best efforts, we can only manage to secure a handful of fruits.
They pounce on the fruit, leaving half-eaten figs fallen on the ground, and I fail to understand how these birds manage to enter through the net.
Initially, it's irritating, but now I have given up and let the birds celebrate.
This sight always fills me with a deep sense of peace. It reminds me that natural beauty belongs to no one in particular but is meant for sharing.
Sharing is caring!!!
I know magpies and parrots will return to eat our fruit this year too, but I won't be here but gone back India. I know this season belongs to the birds as well. Magpies, in particular, are very aggressive during this season, caring for their eggs and young ones on the trees above.
The second week of spring is underway, and there's a strange sweetness in the air as I look at my strawberry plants, tiny blossoms beginning to bloom on them.
Standing here in my garden, I realize that, truly, spring belongs to everyone, and it's like the wind, leaving smiles wherever it goes.
The flowers in strawberries are blooming in a corner. Seeing this diversity of life all around brought a deep peace to my mind. Nature reminds us again and again that beauty lies in simplicity. I saw a glimpse of patience and perseverance in the growth of plants. Watching them made me realize that true happiness is respecting the life around us.
This scene in my house' courtyard has become for me not just a symbol of greenery but also of the rhythm and patience of life, a gentle lesson that nature teaches silently every day.
How we overcame Termite?
The peach and apricot trees in my garden are celebrating spring in the greatest way, and I hope they will bear fruit this year.
I had a serious problem with my apricot tree because it was suffering from termite infestation. What I did was I hired a professional who removed it by using chemical treatments.
He then taught all of us how to maintain in long-term. We had to remove decayed or affected branches, and prune the branches regularly to stop termites from spreading not only in this tree but other trees around it.
Now we call him every six months for termites and overall tree health so to catch termite infestations. Fortunately the tree is healthy and ready to bear fruits this year.
I have taken photographs from all around my house so I invite @solperez, @jyoti-thelight and @ahlawat
