More than being a consequence of leaving the EU, I would suggest that this is a sad symptom of our collective human-centric attitude to everything in life.
Indeed it seems that the time and place and way for humanity is every time, every place and every which way.
This is not to say that humans are not experimented on also. The self-elevated field of pHarma-backed medicine does so upon a day to day basis through prescriptions. The results of these experiments are often poorly documented since the primary backing motive is to financially exploit a condition concerned rather than to cure it.
At least, unlike the animals used in the OP-mentioned post, these human experiments are more often afforded choice than not - even if they may not directly consent to experimentation.
