Zagreb arhitecture part1
Greetings my fellow steemians, from today I will be starting a blog about architecture in my home town Zagreb.
Today, for a rather colorful start, I will present you the "Ivan Vitic skyscraper", example of the modern architecture.
The Ivan Vitic skyscraper
The building resides in the Laginjina street in Zagreb and it is popularly known after the name of the architect who designed it, Ivan Vitic. The arhitect was born in coast town of Sibenik in 1917., and is renowned for his modernistic approach to architecture with cubic shapes. He also built the public library in Sibenik in 1961. and an unusual square building Kockica in 1968. which literally translates to „little cube“. It was constructed 1958.- 1962. and it is one of the most remarkable examples of the modern arhcitecture in Zagreb. It is a very popular place to live for many of Zagreb's designers and artists. What is special about this building is the fasacde as it can change it's colors and look depending on the position of the movable window blinds and it creates an interesting playfulness that makes it stand out in this city zone. It can compared with Le Corbusier's Unite d'Habitation because of the similar colorful playfulness that stands out and makes a cheerful impression. Furthermore, the building interior is designed in such a way residents can redecorate and redesign the interior as they will thanks to very good buildings structure and strategically placed load bearing walls. For me, this building is one of the most special in Zagreb, and I really enjoy walking besides it because it radiates this cheerfull joy of living into the district.
