I would say that life itself is an art.
From my perspective... life is an art and we are the artists in charge of designing our future with our effort and sacrifice. While walking through one of the city's shopping centers I looked at this women's shoe. Here I see art. Well, I see art in many things. I hope @joslud agrees with me. If NOT, I will continue trying to make it so.

My personal criteria for knowing if something is art are: my reaction to what I see. And then asking myself, what's behind it, in the author's intention?
You limit the way you define art; they're very vague now. Today you show us "design," which is applied art. And an icon of modernity: a huge red shoe, displayed for all to see. Of course it's art.
