The Morrigan mythological art

The Morrigan is a figure from Celtic myths and legends. She is a fierce figure associated with war, fate, and death. She is also heavily associated with the concept of sovereignty and bestowing the right to rule upon kings. She is a central figure in many ancient Celtic myths and legends, particularly in the Ulster cycle. She is often depicted with her ravens and the number three. She was often depicted as a triple goddess, with three aspects representing different sides of her nature. Badb ("crow of battle") is associated with death and the terror of the battlefield. Macha is a n aspect of the sovereignty of the land. Nemain is the embodiment of the frenzy and chaos of battle. Indeed, The Morrigan as a grim and bloody goddess. I find it interesting that the myths of the Celts are not more widely known and I must confess to not having the strongest knowledge of that particular branch of myth and folklore, though I find it very compelling and will be reading up on it more. Cheers!

Mythology in general has been one of my hobbies. Celtic culture and its air of mystery. The role of the Druid masters has intrigued me. And just as you point out, the role of the raven and its eyes.

I'm curious to know how you made the drawing.

I love the drawing and had a look at your site.

If it comes to the Celts it depends on where you live what you know. Unlike New Zealand in Europe it was taught at school and they literally have been everywhere. Most likely people are no longer aware of it and to many history isn't their favourite topic.

A great, creative weekend and welcome to Art & Artists

♥️🍀

Interesting. I think it is interesting how Greek and Norse myths have seemingly been very ingrained into world-wide popular culture, whilst others have not seen that level of saturation. I was aware of Celtic myths and legends, and it is indeed a widespread phenomena, but it still hasn't seemed to be as much of the popular consciousness as the other two I mentioned. Thanks for the welcome and I shall! Getting ready for a group art show and zinefest right now :)
