Creative Art – Acrylic Painting Inspired by the Past

Hello friends,
Today I’m sharing with you one of my favorite acrylic paintings that carries the spirit of the good old days. Creating it was a journey full of calmness and nostalgia.

Stages of the Painting

First, I prepared the still life model in front of me

Then, I set up my palette and colors

I prepared the canvas with a base color

After that, I drew the outline on the canvas

I gradually added colors to build the forms. I'd better start with shadow and light.

Finally, I focused on the details using a small brush and finished the piece patiently.

The Signature
The last step was adding my signature. Choosing the right spot for the signature is very important, because it becomes part of the painting itself and reflects my identity as an artist.

Finally, the signature found its place

The painting has finally come to life

MATERIALS

*Acrylic colors
*Canvas (35×50 cm)
*Brushes (different sizes, including a fine detail brush)
*Palette for mixing colors
*Easel

                             The Spirit of the Artwork

The painting includes elements from the past: a oud, an old radio, and a cassette tape.
I wanted to take the viewer back to a time we rarely see today in 2025.

To add even more atmosphere, I included the song "Enta Omri" (You Are My Life) by Umm Kulthum

Image

It was composed by the legendary Mohamed Abdel Wahab
Released in 1964, it was the first collaboration between the two after years of anticipation by the audience.

Timeless beauty , perfectly captured. The way you have woven together the texture, light and shadow is nothing short of magical. The oud , old radio 📻 and cassette tapes 📼 are perfectly chosen elements that makes it even more stunning. Your addition of Umm Kulthum "Enta Omri" adds an extra layer of depth to the piece. Your art whispers stories of the past. Congratulations 👏 on creating such a stunning work of art.

Thank you so much! Your message really made my day. I’m so glad the atmosphere, details, and music brought the feeling I hoped for. Truly appreciate your kind support."

Wow!
I can't even express my love for this like I should, it's just to lovely and professional, I love your composition and most importantly that manner you used in controlling your colours, it's so mature!

Your words truly moved me — thank you from the heart. To know that the composition and color flow spoke to you on such a level means more than I can say. I always aim to let the colors carry emotion and intention, and I’m deeply grateful that you felt that maturity in the work

You're most welcome, can't wait to see more of your works. ❤️

Great job!
I am not an artist and I do not work with brushes and paints. I don't understand your color technology.
Look, you're making a completely warm background here.

You draw the contours and details, and then I see...

... the background has completely changed... it's a mystery to me)
Does this substitution relate to color technology, or did you finally change your approach to the painting as a whole?

Thank you so much for your thoughtful observation! What you noticed is actually a big part of my process. I often begin with a warm or expressive underpainting to set the emotional tone, using materials like acrylics or thin oil washes, depending on the surface.
As the piece evolves, I layer on colors gradually, sometimes glazing or blending to shift the mood. The background often changes when I feel the emotional balance needs adjustment — so it’s a mix of color theory, technique, and intuition.
In short, it’s both a technical and artistic decision, guided by how the painting ‘speaks’ as it grows.

I understand you, thank you for such a meaningful explanation :)
You have a very creative approach and a deep immersion in the process with feedback from its passage.
Indeed, the emotional burden at the beginning of work and at its completion are very different from each other. It can be assumed that two different people worked on the painting at the beginning and at the end))

It kind of reminded me of photo post-processing.
I open the archive, I see some photo that I took some time ago and I want to change this result, use other tools, adjust the emotional tone, remove something unnecessary ... :)

==================
