I totally agree with you: thanks goodness for old tech! Watching this painting I repeat more and more thanks goodness that brushes are not prone to tool failure. Wonderful piece, really impressive!

The more complex a thing becomes, the more prone it is to failure. There's not much that can go wrong with hairs bound to a stick.
