I Tried to Figure Out if Curd is Good for Piles

Hey everyone, I’ve been meaning to share this little health curiosity of mine because I think many of us deal with digestive issues, especially piles (yep, those annoying, painful things). I’ve always loved curd — it’s creamy, cooling, and everywhere in our diets. But someone once told me curd might not be good if you have piles, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So I went down a rabbit hole of research, and here’s what I found.

Turns out, Ayurveda, the ancient health science, has a lot to say about this. Curd isn’t a straightforward “yes” or “no” when it comes to piles. I found this really interesting article at:

Basically, curd is considered heating and heavy in Ayurvedic terms, which means it can actually make piles worse for some people — especially if you eat it at the wrong time or in the wrong way.

But that doesn’t mean curd is banned from your life. Fresh, homemade curd, taken during the day with some spices like black pepper or cumin? That’s apparently much better.

What a lot of people actually recommend instead of curd is buttermilk, especially if you’re trying to manage piles naturally. I even came across a Facebook post with people swapping tips about this:

They all seem to agree that buttermilk is easier on the gut.

Honestly, piles are a nightmare when you’re working, sitting long hours, or skipping meals (guilty here). So beyond diet, your habits matter. I saw a super helpful reminder on Instagram recently:

It’s all about how simple changes in your routine can really help your digestion.

There’s more — like adding small wellness habits to your daily life. Someone shared their personal experience with that on Threads:

It gave me a lot of ideas I hadn’t tried yet.

And if you’re the visual type, check out this board on Pinterest — it has some cool Ayurvedic food and lifestyle tips that are piles-friendly:

One thing I didn’t expect? Even professionals on LinkedIn are talking about this! I came across this detailed post:

They dive into managing piles while juggling work. Makes sense, considering how modern life isn’t exactly gentle on our digestion.

And don’t even get me started on the mistakes we all make… this Twitter thread summed it up perfectly:
