Banking hassles
Since last week I am unable to access my bank account. Last week I called up the bank since I was unable to visit and they told me there is no problem with the account, but still access is not possible. Today being the first day of the week here first thing I visited the bank in the morning. I had to collect the token and wait, it was a long wait of almost 40 minutes after which my token number was announced and I met the bank representative. I explained the problem to her, showed the error that I have been getting, I am able to login to my account, but I am unable to carry out any transactions. She checked and told me my account was all ok, and there were no issues. Normally if there is a KYC required then such errors come up, but that's not the case.
Even she was unable to assist me. She mentioned it can be some technical glitch and gave me another contact number of their IT department. Now I need to call them up and see if there is any solution to my problem. Else I do not know what to do next. Probably close this account and open a new one, but that's a big hassle and I am hoping that somehow it gets resolved. Some times the challenge that I face here is language also, especially when it is on a phone call. I do not speak Arabic and sometimes their staff is not fluent and clear with English which creates gaps in understanding.
In India all these things are very simple, each account has a Relationship Manager and if there is any banking need you need to connect with that person and the RM will do all the back and forth communication for you and will assist. I do not have to go to the bank also, I can coordinate with my Relationship Manager either on phone call or Whatsapp message and the work gets done, if there is any documentation to be done, then he will visit home and get it done. It's all very simple for me back in India, but here even a little thing feels like a big challenge to deal with.
Later in the afternoon I am going to call up the IT person of the bank and let's see if the problem gets resolved or not. As of now I am feeling very stranded because I am unable to carry out any transactions in my account.

@nainaztengra, your post really resonated with me. Dealing with banking issues, especially in a foreign country where language and cultural differences add to the frustration, is incredibly challenging. I can only imagine how stressful it must be to have your account locked and feel so stranded!
Your detailed account of navigating the bank visit and the obstacles you faced really highlights the contrast with the efficient, personalized service you were used to in India. It's a valuable perspective on the different approaches to customer service around the world.
I hope the IT department can quickly resolve your issue. Have you considered reaching out to other expats in your area for advice? Sometimes, shared experiences can lead to useful solutions or workarounds. Fingers crossed for a positive update! Thanks for sharing your experience.
