There's no way the Marlins find themselves in a Wild Card hunt. Did you see who there throwing out there for opening day...Urena. I'm not sure which is worst, the starting lineup or the entirety of the pitching staff.
Also, I have my doubts about the Yankees. I think they could possibly miss out on the playoffs, that is if Stanton gets hurt, or Severino. Stanton is more likely to get hurt than not, according to his injury past.
My preseason picks for the World Series this year are the Dodgers and Indians. Both have the pitching and hitting. I couldn't bring myself to pick the Astros, as it felt too easy. They have quite a deep starting staff, but their bullpen is still a bit shaky, which might come back to haunt them.
Thanks for the thoughts.
Yes with Straily hurt, Urena is opening day for Marlins. I don't think they will be in a Wild Card hunt. I am just asking/hoping they can glimpse at a Wild Card spot at some point in the season. Not holding my breath on that though amidst the farm system restocking they are doing. I'm rooting against Astros and Indians. Nothing is for sure, but the Yanks didn't lose many people, and Stanton's injury history is so thick in part to a pitch to the face, which is a rare fluke. I have a hard time seeing them miss the playoffs, but that's what's fun about baseball. Nothing is a lock.
Who knows? Cheers to the season starting.
