Ilorin Muslim Jumma'at Central Mosque, Kwara state Nigeria.
Ilorin Muslim Jumma'at Central Mosque
The new Ilorin Muslim Central Mosque was created in 1974 by the 9th Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Zulkarnaini Gambari. A committee was set up because this mosque needed complete renovation. Within a 6-month period, the mosque was renovated. Experts from over 14 countries worked in various areas of the mosque. The funds used to renovate the mosque were received from philanthropists in the country where they contribute huge amount of money. The opening ceremony of the mosque took place in 2012, with dignitaries from across the country in attendance.
The structure of the mosque is amazing, and some people have testified that the structure of the mosque, including the doors and interior decorations, resembles the Grand Mosque of the Prophet in Medina. The specialists who carried out the architectural design are experts because they brought out the good shape of the mosque with the Arabic script written in front of the building. The mosque has four minarets that are well-structured and painted with amazing colors. The mosque building is in good condition and strong; it will last for a long period of time. This mosque is considered one of the finest mosques in the whole of Nigeria, as well as West Africa.

The mosque has a lot of space where worshipers are allowed to make use of free space to worship their creator, and this normally occurs when the inside of the mosque is occupied by worshipers. Flowers were planted outside the mosque to beautify those areas. The surroundings of the mosque are very neat, there are tiles outside the masjid for those who prefer to stay their. Different trees 🌲 are planted so that it can serve as shade, solar lights will bright everywhere for security purpose.
The inside of the mosque is well decorated with lights hanging at the top and different scriptures of Quranic quotes written on the wall, signifying that this mosque is for Muslims. Ablution areas are available with running water that comes out from taps erected in that place. This central mosque is for Jumma'at prayer only, and the worshipers can pray comfortably after listening to the sermon from the chief imam of the mosque. The sermon contains lessons about this life and hereafter. The mosque is so cool and fascinating.
The toilet is very clean, and individuals can also urinate comfortably with water available to clean themselves up. Those who clean the toilet are paid for their service, so they put in more effort to ensure neatness. Mirrors can also be found in the toilets for individuals who want to look at their appearance after coming out. Like I said earlier, this mosque is for Jumma'at only. After they finish praying, they close the doors of the mosque until the next Jumma'at. The programs and activities that usually take place include a sermon by one Mallam before the Chief Imam of the mosque begins the main sermon. After the Jumma'at prayer, religious programs like zikir from Sufi leaders can take place. In fact, I witnessed this when I was a young child
Libraries are also available where researchers can make use of them to improve their knowledge visitors from outside are also allow to benefit from the library. The donated funds are used to maintain the standard of the mosque by repairing items that spoil in the mosque or by buying fuel to power up the generator. They also use part of the money to pay the salary of security men.
