Add one shop or business on the OpenStreetMap.

The first task was to add a shop or business to OpenStreetMap (OSM). For this, I opened the link to the OpenStreetMap website provided in the contest post. After opening the website, I clicked on the "Sign Up" button.

To sign up, I chose the Google option, as I wanted to log in using my Gmail account. I selected my Gmail ID, entered a username, and successfully created my account on OpenStreetMap.

After logging in, I decided to add a small restaurant near my home. To do this, I clicked on the "Your Location" option so the map could show my current location. Once the location appeared, I clicked on the spot where the restaurant was located.

1000033061.jpg1000033063.jpg1000033065.jpg

Next, I clicked on the "Add Feature" button. There were three options: Point, Line, and Area. Since I was adding a restaurant, I chose "Point", and then selected "Restaurant" from the available options.

A form opened where I had to fill in the restaurant’s details. I entered its name, address, postal code, and location. I also selected the types of dishes served (like vegetarian and non-vegetarian) and added that the place was air-conditioned. After entering all the details, I clicked "Save".

In the extra information section, I wrote that it is a delicious restaurant that serves very tasty and yummy food. Finally, I clicked the "Upload" button to submit everything to OpenStreetMap.

After uploading, I searched for "Laziz Restaurant" in the OSM search bar, and it appeared successfully. Now anyone can search for it and easily find its location.

Add one cultural / religious / educational place on the OpenStreetMap.

The second task was to add an educational place, regional landmark, or a worship place to OpenStreetMap (OSM). For this, I decided to add a mosque near my house which was not previously marked on the map.

To begin, I opened the OpenStreetMap website and enabled my location. Since the mosque, named Noor Masjid, is located just in the next street from my home, I easily found it on the map by identifying the correct spot.

1000033071.jpg1000033073.jpg

Once I located the mosque’s position on the map, I clicked on that location and then selected the "Add Feature" option. From the available categories, I clicked on "Places" and then selected "Place of Worship."

After selecting this, a form appeared where I entered the name of the mosque as "Noor Masjid". I also added its address, mentioning that it is located in Mian Town, Sheet No. 1. I included the timing of the mosque as wel,, the hours during which it remains open.

Next, I clicked the "Save" button. In the comments section, I wrote a short note mentioning that anyone can come here to offer prayer at any time, and all five daily prayers are performed here.

After filling out all the necessary information, I clicked on the "Upload" button to submit the data. A few moments later, I refreshed the page and was happy to see that Noor Masjid was now visible on the map.

Now, anyone can easily search for Noor Masjid, view its exact location, and navigate to it using OpenStreetMap.

Add one item of your choice on the OpenStreetMap.

For my third task, I was asked to add one item of my choice to OpenStreetMap and write a review about it. I started by thinking of a place that is familiar to me but was not yet added to the map. After some thinking, I decided to add the campus where my friend studies.

This campus is located right next to my own university campus. Since it was not clearly marked on OpenStreetMap with its proper name, I thought it would be a good idea to contribute by adding this location for future users and students who might want to find it.

1000033079.jpg1000033082.jpg

When I searched on OpenStreetMap, I found that the area was already saved under a general name, "MC Hall." However, the specific name of the campus, "Malik Feroze Khan Noon Business School," was not available. So I decided to edit that location and update it with the correct name.

1000033085.jpg

First, I clicked on the “Area” tool in the editor and marked the boundaries of the campus area. I carefully outlined the building area that belongs to the business school. Once the area was selected, I clicked on “Feature” and chose “University Building” as the type of feature.

1000033122.jpg

Then, I added the name "Malik Feroze Khan Noon Business School" in the name field. I also added details like the address, postal code, and levels of the building.

1000033125.jpg

After completing the information, I clicked on “Save” and added a short note describing that the building is a part of the University of Sargodha and it hosts all business-related departments and subjects.

After saving it, I also searched for it again on OpenStreetMap by typing the name, and it appeared on the map as expected.

However, I noticed one issue. The update is visible on OpenStreetMap, but it's not showing up on the SteemAtlas website yet. I’m not sure if I made a mistake during the editing process or if there’s a delay in syncing data between OpenStreetMap and SteemAtlas.

I tried updating it two or three times, and it still doesn’t appear there. I hope it will start showing soon once the system updates.

Now let me give you a short review of this campus. "Malik Feroze Khan Noon Business School" is a beautiful and well organized department of the University of Sargodha. One of my friends studies here, and that’s why I know a lot about it.

Main entrance of the Malik Feroz Khan Noon Business School campus

The campus is located right next to the BA Hall and offers various business related subjects. The building is surrounded by beautiful roads, green spaces, and benches where students often sit to study and chat.

Outside view – beautiful greenery and a well-maintained green space

In the middle of the department, there’s a neat and peaceful garden area with a hut and benches, making it a perfect spot for students to relax or study in open air.

As soon as you enter the department, there’s a business auditorium on the right hand side where seminars and important events are regularly held. I myself have attended a few seminars there, and the experience was quite professional and educational.

The classrooms in this department are spacious and well ventilated. The corridors are also wide and clean. Despite being part of a government institution, this department is highly maintained and very attractive compared to many others. Students from other departments also admire its design and cleanliness.

Auditorium hall – modern setup for seminars, lectures, and events

There are three floors in the building. The ground and first floors are especially cool during summers, and the classrooms are equipped to keep the atmosphere comfortable. Some classrooms also have LCDs installed for teaching through slides and presentations.

Well-cleaned and settled air-conditioned classrooms for a comfortable learning environment

There are two modern computer labs filled with updated technology where students attend practical classes and work on their projects.

Another great thing about this department is the availability of cold drinking water for students, especially in the summer season. The building is designed in a way that allows natural air to flow through, keeping the environment fresh and less humid even on hot days.
