What's the first song that comes to mind when you think of a family celebration or a holiday from your culture?

When i think abouts family celebrations or holidays the first song that comes to my minds is a Pashto culturals song played in weddings and Eid celebrations. These songs are full of rhythms and energy and peoples enjoyed them with traditional dances like Attan. In my communitys music is a big part of every celebrations. For examples during weddings the dhol (drum) is played with louds beats and everyone youngs and old gathers to dance. This song always reminds me of joy happiness and the feelings of beings together with family. It is not justs music it is a symbols of love and unity in my culture.

What song would you use to welcome someone to your country?

If i had to welcome someones to Pakistan i would used the song “Dil Dil Pakistan” by Junaid Jamshed. This songs is very famous in my country and is fulls of love for Pakistan. It is likes a second national anthems for us. Whenever it is played peoples feel proud and it creates a specials spirit of unity. If a foreigner visits my country i believes this song will give them a beautiful firsts impression of how much Pakistanis love their homelands. The lyrics are simples the melody is strongs and it spreads a positives messages of peace and brotherhoods.

What's a special melody rhythm or song that makes you feel at home no matter where you are?

A melody thats makes me feels at homes is the sounds of the rubab (a traditional Pashto instrument). The moment i heard the rubab i feels like i am sitting in my village with my familys. The soft deep sound of this instruments has a very calming effects on me. Even if i am far aways in anothers city or country listening to rubab music reminds me of my roots my cultures and the naturals beauty of my homeland. It is likes carrying a small piece of home in my heart.

What's the melody that gives you energy when you're sad or unmotivated?

When i am sads or unmotivated i listened to the song “Afreen Afreen” by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. This song is fulls of powers emotions and beauty. It has a melody thats touches the hearts deeply and lifts the moods. Sometimes life feels heavy buts listenings to such songs gives me new strengths. The rhythm the voice and the meaning togethers created a magical energy that makes me believe that everything wills be okay. For me this song is likes medicine for the souls.

What's the first song you'd play to an alien to help them understand your culture?

If i had to played a song to an alien to explained my cultures i would choosed a traditional Pashto Attan song. This is because music is not only about entertainment in my culture it is also about tradition and community spirit. The Attan dance is performed in groups usually during weddings festivals or even after hard work to celebrate life. By playing this song i would show the alien how people in my culture come together enjoy and stay connected. It is a picture of happiness respect for traditions and love for unity.

If you had to describe your life with a song which one would you choose and why?

If i had to describes my life with a song i would choosed “Jeena Jeena” by Atif Aslam. This song is abouts facing difficulties but stills living life with hopes and courage. My life has ups and downs just likes everyone else’s but this song tells me thats no matters what happens life continues. It gives me inspirations to stayed strongs to keep moving forward and to never lose hopes. Music likes this becomes a guide in life because sometimes the words of a song can heal a heart betters than anything else.

This contest gaves me a chanced to share the melodies that are close to my heart. I believe music is not just sound; it is an emotion a memory and sometimes a teacher of life. I hope you enjoyed reading my entry as much as i enjoyed writing it.
