Jatrabari Fish Market, Dhaka
Today I will write and pin up the biggest fish wholesale market in our country's capital Dhaka, Jatrabari, in Steem-Atlas, I hope everyone will like knowing about the fish market.
Jatrabari is a place in the capital Dhaka and there has been a fish wholesale market there for many years. Where everyone buys and sells fish in local markets in other cities.
All the fish in other markets in the city are bought from here. There are freshwater (river fish) and saltwater fish (marine fish).
Name of the storekeepers
The place is located in Dhaka, so the transportation system here is very good, everyone from rural areas and seafarers catch fish and sell it in this market.
Fish come here at night in big cargo cars, fish from all the districts of North Bengal and South Bengal in our country come to this market. In addition, a lot of fish from Myanmar, a neighboring country of our country, also comes to Jatrabari in our country.
By using this place and storing fish, our country can improve a lot in terms of economy. Although the place is private, a business association has been formed here for the convenience of the traders, which looks after everything in this market.
Fish carrier
Ice factory inside the market
Business starts in this market from midnight and lasts until 10 am. Fish comes from different districts at night and everything from landing this fish to taking it to other places starts at midnight.
So even though the business starts at night, everyone buys and sells it in the morning. There, various wholesale and retail vendors buy these fish at auctions.
Crowd of buyers at the market
The one who gets the most in the auction is given to the one who gets the most. Ice is used there to keep the fish fresh, and this ice factory is in the market, where the vendors buy ice and put it on the fish.
The market is crowded with many people and there are people from the committee to carry the load of fish, but they have to pay extra money for that. If you carry a load of fish from the market and take it out, you have to pay 50 taka.
There are about 1500 such porters in the community, but to join their committee, you have to first enter by paying 1200 taka and every day you have to pay 50 taka to the committee for carrying it here. Retail traders are not seen there, but wholesalers are seen relatively less.
They cut fish, and you have to pay extra for it.
There is a system of cutting fish from big to small for retail buyers. There, big fish are charged 10 taka per kg and small fish are charged 50 taka per kg in exchange for cutting the fish.
They cut the fish beautifully and make them into pieces and in exchange for their work there, the fishing community also has to pay money every day.
Trucking arrangements for transporting fish from one city to another.
From here, there are small trucks to take fish to distant cities, through which fish is taken from one city to another. There are many such wholesale markets next to the fish market. Each market has a beautiful road to enter where rickshaws and small trucks can enter along with the public.
Salmon fish 320 taka per kg (20 Steem)
Prawn fish 1100 taka per kg (71 steem)
Pomfret Fish 800 Taka per kg (51 steem)
I had taken a few types of fish from there, but there was no way to stand there. Standing in front of many people and the photo booth became very difficult for me.
Many people from far away come here to buy wholesale as well as retail. The price difference between other fish markets here is about 60-100 taka.
