Today, I will write about a beautiful place and pin its location on Steem Atlas. According to the question, today I will write about a museum, which showcases the heritage of our country.
The place is located in a small town called Narayanganj, east of the capital of our country, Dhaka. The name of the place is Sonargaon, it is located on the east side of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, so there is a good system of going there along the highway.
Although Sonargaon is the name of a place, there is a museum in Sonargaon, there is a museum of Zamindar Bari, and a museum of folk art Zainul Abedin.
Folk arts and crafts are one of the traditions of our country where people of the past used to live by using everything outside the tradition. Zainul Abedin had a great role in the creation of this museum, so this museum has been built in his name. This 3-storey building museum has been built with red bricks. This folk and crafts museum was built in 1995, but it was rebuilt again.
Zainul Abedin’s Sculpture
There is a sculpture of Zainul Abedin in front of the museum building and it is made of stone and his name is engraved on it. It is located on the right side of the entrance of this museum.
This museum has all the traditional furniture of our country which is preserved from different regions of our country and is kept in the museum. The name of each piece of furniture, its storage place, and everything is mentioned separately in a paper which is very convenient for understanding.
Life in ancient times
There are various pictures where the ancient life of our country, and the ancient people used to earn their livelihood by selling clay products, and these pictures were made by Zainul Abedin and kept in the museum.
The royal palace fence
During the reign of the kings, this fence was used as a fence in the palace, it is still kept in the museum where it is made of a very strong wood. Now for ages, these wooden fences are on the verge of extinction. It has been preserved in the district called Comilla of our country.
Sailing boat
In ancient times, the route was the river, there were artificial wooden sailing boats and it looked just like a peacock which the kings of the past used to go somewhere on the river.
With this type of boat, the king and queen would go out together and spend valuable time. It is now kept in the museum as a small boat and the heritage has been presented in front of the museum.
Prounder
Cake is quite popular among the traditional foods in Bangladesh. In ancient times, the prounder was used to break the rice balls for eating this cake.
This is the machine that is made of wood and is now seen in rural Bengal but is on the verge of extinction. It has been preserved from Narsingdi of our country.
Nakshikatha
Everything in this museum is not used in our country now, it is now kept as a tradition in this folk and craft museum, where we see these things and gain some knowledge about the life journey of ancient times.
Nakshikatha is one of the means of livelihood in the ancient times of our country. The ancient people of our country used to earn a lot of money with this Nakshikatha and these things were sold in Western countries for good money.
Musical Instruments
Apart from this, it was quite popular in our country among the instruments, through which everyone from the time of the kings to the present day used to enjoy themselves by playing music and instruments, at the end of the day, when they got tired, they would enjoy their tunes and joy from singing through instruments.
These instruments include dotara, rabab, esraj, sarinda, etc. which have been preserved from different regions of our country and kept in this museum.
Jewelry Boards
Information
The museum contains betel leaves, flower tops, hookahs, and jugs, used by the royal family during the reign of the kings. These were used by the kings of our day, but these things are made of bronze and some are made of silver. These things have been preserved in a place called Narayanganj in our country.
Everyday Furniture
Information
Among the things used by the kings, many more furniture can be seen in this museum. There are several daily pieces of furniture including lids, spoons, and sieves, this is our tradition because even though all our ancient furniture is now extinct, these are available for viewing in our museum. These furniture have been preserved from Dhaka, Comilla, and Munshiganj in our country.
Weapons of war
Information
There are shields, big Choper , jewelry boards, Nakshi leaves, etc. used in ancient wars, shields and big choper were used in the past for self-defense on the battlefield and as swords.
At that time, these weapons were used in war and these devices were used by everyone from soldiers to the general public. Because of this preservation, we can see this museum. There are many such things arranged there.
Palki
In addition, we can see other things in the museum, in the rural era, in ancient times, brides were brought to marriages in palanquins, this is a tradition of our country, but this tradition is now extinct.
Everything has changed with modernity now. The palanquin is made of wood and this traditional palanquin is in the museum, which is like a small room where the bride is brought in it.
Worn Jewelry
Information
The museum means everything from that time and tradition, traditional furniture can be seen, in this, the tradition of our country emerges and we can enjoy how the daily life of the past was.
During the reign of the kings, the waistband of the girls, the necklace, the key, everything is arranged there, all this has been preserved from Jamalpur, Sylhet, Chittagong, and Comilla.
There are CCTV cameras in the museum for security and glass has been placed outside each item so that it cannot be touched. In addition, 2 people have been placed in each room for security. Although taking pictures is prohibited in some places, I secretly took pictures there.
My picture
There is no place to sit in this museum, there is a beautiful place outside to take a rest. It is open from 9 am to 5 pm. There is a large car parking facility on the right side of the museum gate. There is no separate charge. However, many visitors from abroad come to see it.
Ticket (12.90 STEEM for foreign citizens) 3.20 STEEM for citizens of our country
The entrance ticket price is only 50 taka per person and 200 taka for foreign citizens. This museum is closed every Thursday. There are people in every place for security and the administration is in charge of it in front of the gate.
Since it is now under the government's control, the security system here is very good, so everyone comes here to visit. There are no good food shops inside, but there are small shops for light snacks.
